‘Big Brother 28’ Week 5 Spoilers: Who did newly crowned HOH nominate? Last-minute pitch changes Lala’s plans
Week 5 of 'Big Brother 28' started with a bang. For the first time, a houseguest outside of the Tool Shed won the power. Lala was the last houseguest standing on the Wall and became not only the 'Head of Household' (HOH) but also the oldest civilian houseguest to win this competition. Lala is more or less a loner in the house. Her only deep connection is with Taylor, which helped her stay against her ally Jason. This HOH was important for her to make both strategic and social bonds. The only named alliance she currently had in the house was 'Honor Society.' She also had somewhat of a deal with Chuk to keep each other safe. Other than these, it was a clean slate.
Right before going to sleep, Lala and Taylor had a conversation about the week. Lala expressed a desire to go after Rick Devens. Taylor shot it down, pointing out to Lala that he may have power and secretly due to her working relationship with him. Lala also got off the train, as the move could be risky with a secret power in play. They are correct, as Rick does have the 'Diamond Power of Veto.' If he gets nominated, he could use the power not only to remove himself from the block, but also name the replacement nominee. This means he could put up any of the people Lala does not want on the block, rendering Lala's HOH useless.
Ultimately, both decide on Haley as their target. To achieve this purpose, Lala planned to nominate Drew, Barrett, and Kamu. She hopes the Veto will be used and would replace one of the nominations with Haley. If Haley wins the blockbuster, Kamu will be her target. The plan remains solid even during Lala's morning one-on-ones. Lala informs both Drew and Barrett that they will be her pawns. She also tells Kamu that he is being nominated, but clarifies that he is not her target. Kamu realizes he might be in danger and decides to use his good bonds with Taylor and Yash to save himself.
At first, Kamu tries to save himself by telling Lala that he is a free agent. The MMA fighter expresses that if he does not win the veto or blockbuster, he will be shown the door. The plan does not work. Ultimately, he goes to Yash and Taylor and throws Chuk under the bus. He tells them that Chuk was going to nominate Lala. The information stuns Taylor, as she believed that Lala, Chuk, and she had a deal not to put each other on the block. She goes to Lala with the new information and asks her to put Chuk on the block. Yash also talks to Lala and signs off on the plan. Kamu then arrives to give the final push. He not only tells Lala about Chuk's 'betrayal,' but also clarifies that Haley did not take a shot at her, as the shot wouldn't have landed. He sells her on the fact that Chuk and Haley need to be on the block together, or they will use the veto on each other.
Kamu also stressed that the icons have betrayed him. He now wants to change course and play with Lala and Taylor. The MMA fighter also mentioned that had he won the HOH, he would have nominated Dee, Angela, and Chuk. Lala was finally convinced and decided to change her nominations to Haley, Chuk, and Barrett. If someone comes down, she plans to put up Drew. Kamu tries to pivot her towards Dee and Angela, but does not succeed. After the feeds came back, it was revealed that Lala indeed blindsided half the house and put up Barrett, Chuk, and Haley. Haley is still her target, but she wouldn't mind if any of the other two exit. On Saturday, the all-important 'Power of Veto' will be played. For the results, fans need to tune in to the 'Big Brother 28' live feeds on Paramount+.
