Who went home tonight on 'Traitors'? A new secret alliance might be brewing as another traitor is banished
Things aren't going well for the traitors in 'The Traitors' Season 4. Following Lisa Rinna's banishment in the previous episode, Candiace Dillard Bassett was the latest contestant to be eliminated, making Rob Rausch the last remaining Traitor in the game. As a result, Rausch is now required by the rules to recruit a Faithful to join him, leaving viewers wondering who it will be and whether the invitation will be accepted.
At the end of 'The Traitors' Season 4 Episode 8, Rausch chose Eric Nam despite knowing suspicion was closing in. Unhappy with the offer, Nam said, "I'm almost there. I just want to be left alone," before being shocked when Rausch revealed himself. Episode 9, airing Friday, February 12, will reveal whether Nam accepts the ultimatum and if the two can survive until the end, as per Today. Talking about Dillard Bassett's shocking banishment, it started at breakfast. As players discussed Rinna’s banishment, Maura Higgins pointed out how strange it was that Dillard Bassett voted for Rausch instead of joining the majority.
A flashback revealed that Dillard Bassett was the one who suggested murdering Colton Underwood in the turret. In his final confessional, Underwood said, "Well, that's a bummer. Damn," before calling the vote "sloppy gameplay". "I have faith that the Faithfuls know who it is, and I hope that my boy Rob wins," he added. Dillard Bassett said she targeted Underwood to weaken Rausch, but he revealed he was one step ahead. "It isn't the things you don't know that hurt you. It's the things you think you know for sure," Rausch quoted Mark Twain, noting that Underwood had suspected Dillard Bassett before his murder, a detail he deliberately kept from her.
Back at the castle, suspicion grew around Dillard Bassett and Stephen Colletti. However, things quickly escalated when Colletti revealed that Underwood suspected her before his murder, making Dillard Bassett realise Rausch set her up. Confronting him privately, she accused him of having "different values." He, however, downplayed it, saying, "I feel like you're taking this very personally," and reminded her it's a game. "It is a game, and you are a snake," Dillard Bassett fired back, warning she would sabotage him if she were banished.
At the Round Table, Dillard Bassett was overwhelmingly banished from 'The Traitors', largely due to her confusing vote for Rausch, which sealed her fate with nine votes against her, as per Reality Tea. Though she tried to take Rausch down with her and stirred tension between Tara Lipinski and Natalie Anderson, it wasn't enough to save her. In her emotional exit, Dillard Bassett admitted that constant lying was the hardest part of the game. "I really started to love everybody, and that's what stings the most," she said, while expressing confidence that Rausch's "snake-like" behavior would eventually be exposed.
