'Yellowstone' spinoff 'Dutton Ranch' sets release date as Paramount+ drops teaser featuring Beth and Rip
Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are back, and they will go to any lengths to protect the Dutton legacy. Paramount+ dropped the explosive trailer for 'Yellowstone' spin-off, 'Dutton Ranch' on Monday, and announced a two-episode premiere starting May 14. The series sees the return of the fan-favorite Yellowstone couple, Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler and Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton. The nine-episode first season, created by executive producer and showrunner Chad Feehan, will stream on the Paramount Network beginning May 15 at 8 p.m.
The teaser sees Beth and Rip's peaceful lives in their Montana ranch torn apart, as they fend off threats with punches, kicks, and bullets flying. "A legacy is a beautiful thing," Beth says to a new character named Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening), and is followed by a chilling line: "But only if it survives." The official logline per THR reads: As Beth and Rip fight to build a future together — far from the ghosts of Yellowstone — they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire. In South Texas, blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul." Starring alongside Hauser and Reilly are Finn Little, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, Ed Harris, and Bening.
'Dutton Ranch' will be the second spinoff of the 'Yellowstone' franchise, following 'Marshals.' The latter follows Beth's brother, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes). The series airs weekly on Sunday nights on CBS and has already been greenlit for a second season. In related news, Hauser spoke of the duo's return to the spin-off during his previous chat with the outlet. "Kelly and I are focused on [Rip and Beth’s] relationship and our love together, and what we’re going to get [them] into." Earlier, 'Yellowstone' director Christina Voros also weighed in on the possibility of a 'Marshals' and 'Dutton Ranch' crossover: "There’s so much potential in having all of these spinoffs in the universe, you would love to see what could come of that."
'Dutton Ranch' is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. The series is also executive produced by Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Voros, Michael Friedman, Hauser, Reilly, and Keith Cox, serving as EPs. Voros directs multiple episodes, including the season premiere and finale. Greg Yaitanes, Jessica Lowrey, and Phil Abraham serve as the directors. Outside the 'Yellowstone' franchise, Sheridan's standalone drama 'The Madison', also directed by Voros, recently completed its first season on Paramount+ with Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn in the lead.
