Jurassic World 3 release date announced four months before second one hits theatres

Behold Jurassic World fans, the third movie of the franchise is set to release on June 11, 2021. The Universal Pictures announced the Jurassic World 3 and tapped Emily Carmichael to join Colin Trevorrow as a co-writer of the new film, even before the release of its upcoming sequel Jurassic World:Fallen Kingdom, which will hit the theatres on June 22, 2018.

Colin Trevorrow directed Jurassic World and returned as a producer on Fallen Kingdom and J.A. Bayona took over as the director. Since the beginning of the sequel, Trevorrow said he envisioned the post-Jurassic Park films as a trilogy.

In a 2017 interview, Trevorrow said, “I remember telling Steven even while we were making the first movie, ‘This is the beginning. Here is the middle. And here’s the end of the end.' This is where we want to go.”

He added, “I feel like that kind of design is crucial to a franchise like this if you really want to bring people along with you and make sure they stay interested.”

Now with Emily Carmichael as a new co-screenwriter to Trevorrow, Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley is also said to produce with Steven Spielberg, the filmmaker behind the original movies in the 1990s.

In the upcoming Jurassic movie, Chris Pratt returns as raptor expert Owen Grady alongside Howard’s former park-runner Claire Dearing, which Trevorrow said will help set the stage for the third chapter. He also explained that unlike previous movies, this will not a clear definitive ending.

In an interview with Agencia EFE, Bayona compared Fallen Kingdom to The Empire Strikes Back or The Wrath of Khan explaining the sequel’s slightly darker take.

When an active volcano on Isla Nublar threatens to erupt and decimate all living things on the island, Claire and her newly founded organization, the Dinosaur Protection Group, enlist Owen to help save as many dinosaurs as they can.
