HBO has ordered a new series called 'The Undoing', an adaptation of Jean Hanff Korelitz’s book 'You Should Have Known' and has signed its Emmy-winning 'Big Little Lies' stars, Nicole Kidman and writer David E. Kelley.

Deadline reports Nicole Kidman and David E. Kelley are on a roll for the drama with Kidman starring as Grace Sachs. The plot centers around Grace, who is living the only life she ever wanted for herself. She’s a successful therapist on the brink of publishing her first book, has a devoted husband and young son who attends an elite private school in New York City.

"Weeks before her book is published, a chasm opens in her life: a violent death, a missing husband, and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself."

Casey Bloys, president, HBO programming said: “We’re thrilled to continue our creative relationships with both Nicole and David and can’t wait to bring this show to life.”

Just like the show 'Big Little Lies', Kelley will be the executive producer of 'The Undoing' through David E. Kelley Productions and will serve as showrunner. Kidman again will be an executive producer with Per Saari through their Blossom Films alongside another 'Big Little Lies' executive producer, Bruna Papandrea, vie Made Up Stories.

A search for a director is reportedly underway. The number of episodes is yet to be decided but it will likely be in the same range as 'Big Little Lies', whose first season consisted of 7 episodes.
