‘The Voice’ Season 28 is switching things up and audience plays a surprising role in picking the Top 6
With the finale set to take place on Monday, December 15 and 16, the stakes are higher than ever on 'The Voice' Season 28. The playoffs kick off Monday, December 1, and will determine the Top 6 for coaches Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, and Reba McEntire. But with no saves remaining, one big question remains: how will the contestants be chosen? Fortunately, we already know the answer, and the audience will play a major role in deciding who makes it to the finals.
Notably, this season of 'The Voice' changes the rules by giving viewers their own 'saves' during the playoffs. While coaches McEntire, Bublé, Dogg, and Horan can each choose only one finalist from their teams to move on to the Live Shows, the remaining three artists from each team aren't eliminated immediately as they go into a fan-vote pool, according to NBC. On Monday, December 1, Team Reba and Team Bublé perform.
On the other hand, after each coach picks their finalist, the six leftover artists are put up for public voting at NBC.com/VoiceVote or through the Voice app, from where fans choose one to advance to the Live Finale. On Monday, December 8, the same process repeats for Team Snoop and Team Niall. By the end, a total of six artists move to the Live Finale on Monday, December 15, with the winner chosen by viewer votes and announced on Tuesday, December 16.
The remaining contestants on 'The Voice' Season 28 consist of four artists per team. Team Bublé includes Jazz McKenzie, Max Chambers, Rob Cole, and Trinity. Team Niall features Aiden Ross, Ava Nat, DEK of Hearts, and Kirbi. Team Reba is down to Aaron Nichols, Aubrey Nicole, Peyton Kyle, and Ryan Mitchell. Team Snoop has Mindy Miller, Ralph Edwards, Toni Lorene, and Yoshihanaa still in the competition.
Not only that, Season 28 also brought major format twists. In the ongoing season, Carson Daly had the power to use a 'Carson Callback Card' to rescue a no-chair-turn singer and give them a second chance in the blinds, and once artists advance, they enter a revamped Battle round where, for the first time, they choose their own opponents instead of the coaches deciding, as per Cosmopolitan. In addition, in the Knockouts, coaches now had a new 'Mic Drop' button, giving them a powerful play to secure an artist they believe deserves an immediate spot moving forward.
