'American Idol' Season 22 viewers claim Jordan Anthony was 'robbed' after failing to secure Top 12 spot
SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA: 'Amerian Idol' Season 22 contestant Jordan Anthony was eliminated from the singing competition despite one of the 'best performances'. During the latest live episode, Jordan performed Whitney Houston's song, 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)'.
Jordan's latest performance was dubbed 'best' so far. Following Jordan's Top 14 performance, Lionel complimented the aspiring singer for 'letting go' and having 'freedom on stage'. The ABC show judge noted, "Until you grabbed that microphone, you let go. Enjoy this moment."
Katy Perry praised Jordan's 'amazing' jazz chord he ended his performance on. She called the performance his best so far adding, "You've grown so much." She said, "That jazz chord you ended up on, that was amazing. You sounded like a super pro. I think that’s the best performance you've given."
Luke Bryan claimed that Jordan "nailed it from top to finish." Despite the judges' compliments, Jordan's performance didn't save him from elimination as he failed to receive enough votes from the viewers. A social media user commented, "JORDAN! WAS! ROBBED! 😢." Another person added, "America got it so wrong tonight 😭😭." One critic noted, "He was suppose to make top 12 !!!"
Another fan said, "DEVASTATED THAT YOU WENT HOME but as we all know the people who win American Idol aren’t even the ones who are the most famous." Another user stated, "Legit screamed when they didn’t call you." "Why he was eliminated? 😢 he was great too 😢," added another fan.
'American Idol' producers discover Jordan Anthony on TikTok
'American Idol' Season 22 alum Jordan Anthony reflected on an unusual way he got the opportunity to audition for the ABC show. In a recent interview with Perth Now, Jordan revealed that he was asked to appear on 'American Idol' after producers discovered him on TikTok.
The aspiring singer recalled, "I was singing a Teddy Swims song literally sitting in my car. That was the video that was found, saying, ‘We really like your voice, have you heard of American Idol?" Jordan revealed that he jumped with excitement at the opportunity to audition for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan for a spot in the singing competition.
Jordan Anthony was 'The Voice' Australia's youngest finalist
Before his 'American Idol' Season 22 gig, Jordan Anthony auditioned for 'The Voice' Australia in 2019 and made it to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in fourth place but left a mark in the show's history.
Jordan became the youngest finalist ever in the history of the series at the age of 14. Additionally, Jordan also represented Australia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest later that year.
'American Idol' Season 22 airs on Sundays and Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
