Who is Jordan Anthony? 'The Voice' Australia finalist flies to US to redeem reality tv career with 'American Idol'
PERTH, AUSTRALIA: Many of you would have been introduced to Jordan Anthony as a member of Team Delta on 'The Voice' 2019. Now, audiences in the United States will see him when he auditions for Season 22 of 'American Idol'.
Jordan is a teenage pop performer from Perth, Western Australia. And no stranger to singing contests.
In 2019, he auditioned for 'The Voice' Australia at the age of 14 and proceeded all the way to the finals, becoming the youngest singer to do so on the show. He got the last slot on the show that season and made it to the finals despite the fact that it was promoted as an 'all-star' season in which previous participants returned to compete again.
His 'The Voice' Australia performances have been streamed over a million times on Spotify, with renditions of Kesha's 'Praying' (770,000 plays) and P!nk's 'What About Us' (260,000) topping the charts. His audition song was 'What About Us'.
Where is Jordan Anthony now after 'The Voice' Australia?
Following 'The Voice', Jordan was invited to represent Australia in Junior Eurovision with one of his original compositions, 'We Will Rise'. Sharing his song with an international audience was next level! Jordan has been gigging with his band and composing like a madman.
Jordan writes on his website that he started creating his songs at the age of seven, busked to generate money to record them at the age of eleven, and released his debut album, "One Word," when he was thirteen. It has eight tracks and is still accessible.
About his song We Will Rise, Jordan wrote on his website, "When I started writing [my song], it was after my time on The Voice Australia. I was feeling in a really negative place, feeling overwhelmed at school and at home. This song is about knowing that those times of doubt and struggle will pass and there is hope. We just need to draw upon the strength within and from those around us and know that your time will come and ‘We Will Rise’."
He has continued to make original music, with a dozen new songs released since then, including "Favorite Part," which debuted on February 2. Jordan claims his Spotify idols include Guy Sebastian, Calum Scott, Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, Sam Smith, and Shawn Mendes.
Jordan released multiple videos of his trip to Los Angeles months earlier, but he didn't tell his fans about his Idol audition until mid-December.
Jordan Anthony lost spot to Ben Platt's 'Fantasy AGT: Once Upon A Time'
