LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former 'The Voice' Australia finalist Jordan Anthony, an 18-year-old barista from Perth, kicked off the second hour of 'American Idol' Season 22 auditions on March 24. Fans quickly rushed to social media to criticize the ABC show for holding an international casting call.
The 18-year-old traveled from Perth, Australia, with his father. Talk about stress to deliver.
As fans learned about Jordan's past credits and the internationl fame attached to his name they took to YouTube to write, "Please stop allowing people who have already competed on different talent shows in different countries compete!!!" "isn't this American Idol? Maybe I'm missing something," asked another.
One fan also complained, "Wtf… why are all these foreigners in American Idol …here is somebody from Australia and there’s been many from other countries that are not from United States of America. it’s American Idol not other countries idol… why are they doing this?"
On X people asked, "What's up with all of the people from other countries auditioning for #AmericanIdol ??" Another person snapped, "Someone needs to tell the judges that the contestants MUST live in America. Hence, American Idol."

One user further asked, "Is #AmericanIdol just doing a casting call for international artists and hoping we won’t realize what’s happening? Jordan Anthony was a finalist on #TheVoiceAustralia." Others sighed, "We've had so many people, and now an ? -- OMG it's JORDAN ANTHONY FOM JESC A FEW YEARS AGO-- he's 18 now?! -- voice should be an EASY yes."
