Ahead of the premiere of Season 3, let's discuss major events from 'Sweet Tooth' Season 2.
General Abbot forces Dr Aditya Singh to find a cure in Season 2
In 'Sweet Tooth' Season 2, General Abbot (Neil Sandilands), a key antagonist, forces Dr Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar) to find a cure for the deadly H5G9 virus, which has ravaged the world.
He takes him and his wife, Rani Singh (Aliza Vellani), hostage, threatening their lives unless Dr Singh finds a cure promptly. Abbot's ruthless and authoritarian nature drives him to extreme measures, including coercion and manipulation, to achieve his goals.
In a desperate bid to find a cure for the deadly virus, Dr Singh resorts to performing fatal experiments on imprisoned hybrids. While Dr Singh was tirelessly working on a cure under the pressure of Abbot, his wife Rani struck up a friendship with the General's compassionate and understanding brother, Johnny (Marlon Williams).
What happened to General Abbot in Season 2?
In 'Sweet Tooth' Season 2, Johnny met a tragic end when he was shot in the back and killed by his own brother while trying to prevent him from invading Gus' home.
After killing Johnny, Abbot attacked the Yellowstone home where Gus was hiding. However, Aimee Eden (Dania Ramirez) injected him with the H5G9 virus, a devastating act that sealed his fate in the series.
The fate of Abbot, whether he succumbed to the virus or managed to survive, is a lingering question that may be answered in Season 3.
The origin of the Sick revealed in Season 2
In 'Sweet Tooth' Season 2, Gillian Washington's (Robyn Malcolm) team retrieved ice samples from Alaska, the same cave where her grandfather had searched for a cure for a degenerative muscle disease but died.
In an attempt to develop a vaccine for Gillian's illness, they tried to use the microbes from the ice by injecting them into chicken eggs. However, this experiment yielded an unforeseen outcome when a heartbeat was detected inside one of the eggs, ultimately resulting in the birth of Gus.
Gillian decided to inject herself with the modified microbes. Contrary to her hopes of curing her muscle disease, this action unwittingly led to her becoming the first known case of the H5G9 virus.
What happened to Gus and Aimee Eden?
After being shot by Abbot, Gus managed to survive the attack, showcasing his resilience and determination. However, Aimee died after contracting the H5G9 virus.
With Aimee's death serving as a grim reminder of the urgency of their quest, Gus, along with his allies, will likely face numerous challenges and dangers in their pursuit of a cure in Season 3.
The search for a cure will become the central focus of the storyline in Season 3.
