Netflix 'Sweet Tooth' renewed for Season 3: Christian Convery reveals it's 'final chapter of Gus' story'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix renewed 'Sweet Tooth' for Season 3 but now the streaming giant threw a curve ball at fans and announced that the fantasy drama developed by Jim Mickle will end after the new season.
'Sweet Tooth' is based on the comic book of the same name written by Jeff Lemire and published by DC Comics. The series premiered on Netflix on June 4, 2021. And in July of the same year, the show was renewed for another season, which was released on April 27, 2023. This month it was renewed for its third and final season.

Why is 'Sweet Tooth' being canceled?
In an Instagram video posted by executive producer Robert Downey Jr, actor Christian Convery, who plays Gus in the show, said Season 3 will be the “final chapter of Gus’ story.” 'Sweet Tooth' started out as a show that brought out the best adventures and narrated the landmark pieces of Gus’ story and the big pieces of the comic book. But, as everything has a conclusion, the story of Gus and the supporting characters that tell their own story through Gus will eventually come to an end. Netflix's fantasy drama will bid its goodbyes to the streamer and its fans as the story that the production had in mind has reached its conclusion and Season 3 seems like a good way to bid your last goodbyes.
“In a lot of ways, it’s exactly the story that I imagined we would tell and in a lot of ways it takes on its own life. At the beginning, I think you set out to tell these landmark pieces of Gus’ story and the big pieces of the comic book, but the beauty of long-form storytelling and Gus’ journey over 24 episodes is the characters themselves tell you what they want to be," said creator Jim Mickle as per The Hollywood Reporter.
"The crew and cast bring so much depth and point of view to who the characters are and where they’ve come from and where they’re going. Season 3 is an Arctic story with exciting new adventures and what we hope will be a satisfying conclusion to this epic tale. Gus is going to see a side of the world and humanity that he didn’t see in Season 1 or 2,” he added.
What is to be expected in Season 3?
The last and final season of 'Sweet Tooth' will follow Gus, Jepp, Wendy, and Becky/Bear as they head out to Alaska in search of Gus' mom. The final season will conclude the story of Gus and all his hybrid children friends. However, one other person who will be joining Gus and his friends on the adventure will be Dr Aditya who stumbled upon Gus' home and found the study that pointed to Birdie's location.
All in all, it seems like great news that the show will get the end it deserves. 'Sweet Tooth' Season 1 and 2 are now available on Netflix.
