LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The highly anticipated 'Sweet Tooth' Season 3 is set to release on Netflix on June 6, 2024.

Starring Nonso Anozie, Christian Convery, Adeel Akhtar, Stefania LaVie Owen, and Dania Ramirez in pivotal roles, the series explores a world where a devastating event has led to the emergence of hybrids - humans with astonishing new abilities and physical characteristics derived from the animals.

The upcoming season delves deeper into the hybrids' history, their purpose, and what triggered their development.

In the post-apocalyptic world, animal-hybrid babies are born, a deadly virus rages, and strange purple flowers bloom. In 'Sweet Tooth,' the purple flowers are a fascinating enigma, and a popular theory suggests they might hold the key to curing the H5G9 virus.

These flowers only grow around places where people are infected with the Sick. Fearing the flowers might be linked to the virus, humans waste no time in wiping them out whenever they appear.

Fans theorize purple flowers as a potential cure for the Sick in 'Sweet Tooth'

In 'Sweet Tooth' Season 1, viewers learned the surprising truth: the virus and the hybrid babies share the same origin. Scientists found weird microbes in Alaska's ice, and they brought them back to Birdie's (Amy Seimetz) lab to make vaccines using chicken eggs.

However, instead of a vaccine, Birdie accidentally created Gus (Christian Convery), the deer-boy hybrid. Before she could figure things out, her research got taken away, and she was kicked off the project.

Later on, a new virus, the scary H5G9, started killing people everywhere. At the same time, all new babies were born as hybrids, part human and part animal.

Subsequently, the mysterious purple flowers sparked outrage among humans. However, the flowers appeared alongside the H5G9 virus and the birth of hybrid babies. This close timing suggests a potential cause-and-effect relationship or at least a shared origin.

A fan wrote on Reddit, "Anybody else feel like they’re gonna be the cure for the sick? Really no foreshadowing to make me believe this but I think that’s what’s gonna be the cure eventually. They show up after the sick and dumb humans always burn them outta fear without trying to understand why they keep appearing."

Another fan said, "I've seen only two topics discussing the flowers but none of them dived deep into it. Maybe there is not much to discuss, but I strongly feel like there is way more to the flowers than meets the eye. And one of the most obvious theory for me is is that they are the cure for the sick."

Another 'Sweet Tooth' fan wrote on Reddit, "So hear me out, the purple flowers keep appearing and I don't think that if it is stupid then it'll have any screen time. Now we see these flowers growing once anyone dies of the virus and they keep saying that nature was angry and all but what if the nature's helping with the cure right in front of them but they just can't see."

While another fan debunked the theory by saying, "Didn't Gus almost die when he was in that field of purple flowers? I would actually be pretty mad if the flowers were the cure. I'm sure the first thing any halfway competent scientist would do upon finding strange flowers appearing wherever the virus is would be to study the damn flowers."

Another fan raised a strong counterpoint to the purple flower theory. They acknowledge the flower theory's popularity but argue that Birdie's research in Alaska is more likely to hold the key to a cure.

The fan wrote, "A lot of people keep saying the flowers but what about the research Birdie is doing in Alaska? That seems to be the origin of the virus and the hybrids and she’s back up there, digging in the ice. Seems more plausible to me that the cure would be derived from the virus itself. I mean, it’s what they do in reality. But this show is fantasy, so maybe it is the flowers."

Another fan took a more pessimistic view, suggesting a cure for the Sick might not exist. The fan said, "I don't think there's a cure. I know it's dark but considering that most of humanity is gone and they had to rely on a fast food restaurant as a "hospital" (which they burned anyways) I honestly don't think there's a cure for it. Plus considering that this season was willing to end with so many mysteries, I wouldn't expect it to go a completely dark turn and have it be that there is no cure and humanity is doomed to die out."

While another fan reflected on the possibility of the cure by saying, "I think the flowers could be used in a humane way to cure the Sick. I’m saying that because Dr Singh want said he wanted a humane way to cure the Sick, and it is confirmed that the flowers appears where the Sick appears."

The purple flower cure theory also sparked discussions on X. A fan wrote, "I hope tptb tested the purple flowers for a cure or remedy before they started experimenting on hybrids."

Another fan also suggested that purple flower might be the cure by saying, "Alrighty, totally got sucked into @SweetTooth

and loving it! Anybody else think the purple flowers are the cure and humans are literally destroying their own salvation? I gotta check the comic out too!"

Another fan said, "I’m watching sweet tooth which is going pretty well so far. Already on episode 5 and i’m speculating that the purple flowers hold the cure to the sick."

Another fan suggested that the purple flowers might not be poisonous and could be part of the antidote.

It could be possible that the purpose of the Sick might have been to reduce the human population to a sustainable level. In this scenario, the purple flowers in 'Sweet Tooth' could play a crucial role as a potential antidote, designed to save humanity from the brink of complete extinction.

It is evident that Birdie's experiments inadvertently unleashed a powerful and transformative force within the natural world.

The microbes she was studying could have interacted with the environment in unexpected ways, leading to the simultaneous emergence of the H5G9 virus, the hybrid children, and the purple flowers. Moreover, the presence of these flowers around infected people hints at their deep connection to the virus.

It seems purple flowers might be a byproduct of the same genetic alteration that caused the virus. These flowers could represent an unintended but vital piece of the puzzle, holding the secret to both the cause and the solution to the pandemic.

The hybrids in 'Sweet Tooth' are unfairly shunned, experimented on, and exterminated due to the widespread belief that they are responsible for spreading the Sick. People are so consumed by their fear and desperation to survive that they fail to consider the origins of the virus or where a cure might be found.

It seems the upcoming season of 'Sweet Tooth' will finally shed light on the pivotal role of the purple flowers, revealing them as the long-awaited cure.
