Knockouts turn emotional on 'The Voice' Season 28 after three fan-favorite singers get eliminated
The Monday, November 24, episode of 'The Voice' Season 28 was anything but ordinary. The singing reality show has been garnering major attention with its Knockouts performances, and continuing with the tradition, three more talented singers had to bid farewell to the show. In a heartbreaking development, three fan-favorite singers were eliminated from 'The Voice' Season 28, with the remaining contestants advancing to the Playoffs.
During The Voice Season 28 Final Knockouts, Austin Gilbert, Dustin Dale Gaspard, and Lauren Anderson were eliminated. The artists who advanced were Kirbi, Peyton Kyle, and Yoshihanaa. Yoshihanaa also received the Mic Drop Button, as per Parade. In Knockout Round 1, Kyle defeated Gilbert with his performance of 'I Don't Want to Be.' Reba McEntire praised him, saying, "Peyton has got an amazing voice. I think you could throw the phone book at him and he'd try to sing that, and he'd do it very well."
In Knockout Round 2, Kirbi won against Dale Gaspard with her performance of 'Hard Fought Hallelujah'. Explaining his decision, Niall Horan said, "I picked Kirbi simply down to the fact that what she did in her performance tonight was just undeniable. There was no way she could sing like that, give the emotion that she gave, and leave the competition. She absolutely deserves to be in my Top 4."
In Knockout Round 3, Yoshihanaa defeated Anderson with her performance of 'You're All I Need to Get By'. Snoop Dogg praised her, saying, "She has that star quality that could actually win The Voice," and used his Mic Drop for her. Explaining the decision, he added, "The reason why I gave Yoshihanaa the Mic Drop is she did everything but drop the mic. So, it was my job to Mic Drop on her behalf. She has one of those voices that can actually sing on that big stage. She has a big, powerful voice, a beautiful spirit, and she represents Team Snoop to the fullest."
After the Playoffs, scheduled for December 1 and December 8, the Top 6 will perform for 'The Voice' finale live on Monday, December 15, at 9/8c, with voting open until early December 16, as per NBC. The results show airs Tuesday, December 16, at 9/8c and will feature guest performances from XG and Khalid. Both episodes will stream on Peacock the following day. Looking ahead, Season 29, 'The Voice: Battle of Champions', arrives in 2026 with major format changes, including a three-coach panel featuring Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend.
