LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Voice' made a historic return for Season 25, featuring Dan + Shay as the first duo to claim a big red chair. This unique setup allowed duo hopefuls (and even trios) to perform during the first Blind Audition, sparking uncertainty among viewers about whether this gives them an edge over solo performers.

On the premiere night on Monday, February 26, twins Justin and Jeremy Garcia, as well as a trio of best friends, OK3, took the stage and successfully secured their places in the competition. Even though OK3 has yet to make their decision, Justin & Jeremy made history by becoming the first artists to represent Team Dan + Shay.

On X, people complained, "Not fair for duo or trios! It’s the voice not voices! I don’t think it’s fair." Another person wrote, "I have a feeling because we have Dan + Shay they aren't going to be the only trio or duo performers."

While writing to NBC, one person said, "Allowing Duos and Trios is absolutely unfair to the solo artists. Fans always complain about this but you refuse to listen to what the fans want or say." A fourth person asked, " a duo? Really? RIP all the singles."

One person sighed, "UGH...not a damn trio." "Now we have a trio," another person added.

Who are 'The Voice' Season 25 coaches Dan + Shay?

Since their formation in 2013, Dan + Shay has accumulated millions of global lifetime streams, earned 46 RIAA certifications, and achieved nine number-one country radio hits. In 2021, they became the first artist to win the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance three times in a row since the category's creation.

Their platinum-certified self-titled third album featured the global hit "Tequila" (7x platinum), multi-platform triumph "Speechless" (6x platinum), and #1 country single "All to Myself" (2x platinum). Dan + Shay's influence in country music and beyond grows with the publication of their highly anticipated fourth studio album, "Good Things".

Who are 'The Voice' Season 25 duo Justin and Jeremy Garcia?

Justin and Jeremy are 17-year-old twin artists from the San Francisco Bay Area. They are high school seniors who recently competed in the Folsom Jazz Festival, which is regarded as California's largest jazz competition.

Justin and Jeremy are a relatively young Instagram and TikTok duo who have released several amazing covers, most recently "Life Goes On" by Ed Sheeran and "Say You Won't Let Go" by James Arthur.

While they do not appear to have released any music, they have uploaded an original song to their YouTube page titled "Today She Choose Me."

The twins also founded Unparallel, a garage band with other friends, and have performed at Bay Area events. Given that Justin and Jeremy became viral hits in 2011 when they were around six years old, it's hardly surprising that they have chosen to pursue a music career.

A video of them dancing to OutKast's "Hey Ya" on their Wii has received over 8 million views on YouTube. It was quickly surpassed by a video of them dancing to Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song," which garnered over 10 million views.

Both videos are still accessible on their YouTube account, as are numerous additional recordings of them dancing together when they were younger. They became known as the Hey Ya Twins.

Who is 'The Voice' Season 25 trio OK3?

Kenna Fields, Sierra Sikes, and Courtney Hooker are childhood friends who act as OK3 (called after the three ladies from Oklahoma). After meeting through their mutual voice coach, they performed together as adolescents before parting ways.

Sierra, who was 23 years old at the time of the trio's 'The Voice' audition, graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2021 with a bachelor of music degree in musical theater.

Kenna, 22, is a senior studying contemporary music at the Academy of Contemporary Music at UCO.

2020 saw the graduation of 25-year-old Courtney from ACM@UCO, who obtained a bachelor's degree in applied technology in commercial music. In 2019, she also graduated with an associate's degree in performance from UCO.

The vocalists connected with Amanda Earhart, their vocal coach, when they invited her to the 'The Voice' stage to assist them in selecting their celebrity coach.

'The Voice' Season 25 airs on NBC at 7 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. The episodes will be available on Peacock on demand the next day. The streaming site also includes entire episodes from the show's prior seasons.
