Who is OK3? Oklahoma vocal group reunites after four-year split to earn first four-chair turn of 'The Voice' Season 25
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: OK3, an Oklahoma City-based pop trio, has already gained acclaim for their superb vocal harmonies, feisty stage presence, and synchronized choreography in their blind audition for 'The Voice' Season 25. In an early look at the new season of the iconic NBC singing contest, watch the trio achieve a coveted four-chair turn—or five-chair turn, depending on how you're counting—with their sweet interpretation of Meghan Trainor's smash "Made You Look."
OK3 consists of Kenna Fields, Sierra Sikes, and Courtney Hooker, three aspiring singers from Oklahoma City who met through their vocal coach. The trio's snappy three-part harmonies to Trainor's 2023 No. 11 Billboard Hot 100 smash had an immediate impression on the coaches, prompting experienced coach John Legend, Reba McEntire, and brand-new coaching duo Dan + Shay to spin around within their first few notes.
Chance the Rapper, who is back for his second season as a Voice coach, proved to be more difficult to crack, waiting until the end of 'Made You Look' to make his move.
Reba McEntire pulls out Grammy to woo OK3 in 'The Voice' Season 15
"I grew up arranging songs for groups," John told the three after they finished their performance, emphasizing that he had received accolades for his Capella arrangements while in college.
"If there’s nothing else that I do, I do this. I feel like there’s a lot of space for a big pop girl group right now, and I would love to be your coach."
Dan + Shay refused to be intimidated by the senior coach, with Dan Smyers responding: "He’s saying he’s an award-winning arranger for groups. We’re an award-winning group!"
His bandmate Shay Mooney, on the other hand, didn't hold back, telling the women: "My heart is racing right now because I want you guys [on our team] so bad. That was my favorite performance so far."
The coaches weren't beyond using tricks to attract OK3's attention, either. John clicked a button to inflate a car dealership windsock guy behind his chair, reading "Pick Team Legend."
"John doing that inflatable tube man thing has taken all my spirit away," Chance said with a giggle.
"It was so loud and distracting." Reba addressed the girls as "fellow Okies" and took out a Grammy that happened to be behind her back. Chance pointed out that his iconic "3" hat is a wonderful fit for the group's name, and Dan + Shay had the audience hold up alternating "Dan" and "Shay" signs from their seats.
Reba also took out a scepter and said, "I am the Queen of Country Music. I would love to have you in my kingdom."
Which coach does OK3 choose in 'The Voice' Season 25?
So, who will OK3 choose as their coach (or coaches) in the end? The singers met through their vocal coach, Amanda Earhart, whom they invited to 'The Voice' stage to assist them in selecting their celebrity coach for the competition.
Fans on YouTube claim, "They remind me of Sorelle, I want them on team Chance but I also think they would be good with Dan and Shay." While some have different plans altogether, "All we want to see is a battle between a girl group and a boy group this season. Make this happen The Voice."
Another person noted, "Those harmonies game me eargasm. They were so smooth in this performance. Can't wait for more of their performances." A fourth person wrote, "Woah, a trio. And they can dance too. I think we are going to have many groups this season. What if we see a battle between two trios this season? That would be a whole performance. OK3 would be great with John or Dan + Shay."
After much coaxing and theatrics from all of the judges, OK3 chose John!
OK3 reunited after four years to appear in 'The Voice' Season 25
If OK3 is to be believed, A Girl Named Tom may not be the only trio to have won 'The Voice'. In fact, Girl Named Tom and Sorelle motivated the Oklahoma vocal duo to reconnect after a four-year hiatus and apply for the singing competition.
OK3 is a three-woman pop music group based in Oklahoma City. The three ladies are Sierra, Kenna, and Courtney.
They've been playing together for a while, releasing their first single, 'Taste of My Love,' in the spring of 2017. In November, they released their second single, 'Let's Make Christmas Last,' an original song.
They have just competed in Tulsa's 'The Big Show Off', a huge talent competition meant to raise awareness and funding for Oklahomans experiencing homelessness. Each of the young girls in the ensemble also pursues independent musical endeavors.
Sierra touts herself as a singer-songwriter, actor, and dancer on Instagram, and she has released three solo songs, the most recent being 'Take My Hand' in 2021. Sierra, who was 23 years old when the three auditioned for 'The Voice', graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in musical theater.
Kenna, 22, identifies herself as a pop/R&B singer and songwriter. Kenna released two singles in 2021—'Warning' and 'Distant Memories'—and promises further music in 2024. She is a senior at UCO's Academy of Contemporary Music, majoring in contemporary music.
Courtney does not appear to have released any original songs. However, she is a featured performer on numerous tracks from two worship CDs named Acts 2 Worship. Courtney, 25, graduated from ACM@UCO with a bachelor of applied technology in commercial music in 2020. She also received an associate's degree in performance from UCO in 2019.
'The Voice' Season 25 airs at 7 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. The episodes will be available on Peacock on demand the next day. The streaming site also includes entire episodes from the show's prior seasons.
