Grammys 2020: Dan + Shay wins Best Country Duo/Group Performance for 'Speechless'
The Best Country Duo/Group Performance was created in 2012 by combining three previous categories: Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, Best Country Collaboration with Vocals and Best Country Instrumental Performance (if it is performed by a duo or a group).
The duo Dan and Shay won the Best Country Duo/Group Performance award in 2019 for the song 'Tequila' and were also nominated for Best Country Song. They were nominated once again this year for both awards for 'Speechless' and took home the Best Country Duo/Group Performance award once again.
Accepting the award alongside Shay Mooney, Dan Smyers said, "I want to put my heart up to this microphone. You can literally hear it beating out of my chest right now."
'Speechless' was Dan + Shay's first number one on the Hot Country Songs charts. A new version with fellow Grammy winner Tori Kelly was also released. The music video featured footage from both members' respective weddings, including the two seeing their brides for the first time as they walked down the aisle.
The other nominees for Best Country Duo/Group Performance were:
'Brand New Man': Brooks & Dunn With Luke Combs
'I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)': Brothers Ozborne
'Daughters': Little Big Town
'Common': Maren Morris featuring Brandi Carlile
