'The Voice' 2022 Blind Auditions: Who is Manu? Upset fans say she got 'short treatment' with no chair turn
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Not everyone gets a chair turn from the judges on 'The Voice' and Columbian singer Manu was one such contestant who had to return home after a beautiful audition which, according to judges, lacked 'flair'. The singer with a history of being on other 'The Voice' spinoffs was quite disappointed, leaving many fans saying she got the short treatment.
Judges Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Camila Cabello and John Legend did not turn for the 18-year-old singer as she performed Lady Gaga's hit song 'Shallow' on the stage, claiming she needed more finesse. Although Blake later regretted not turning for her, he told her he was waiting for a softer moment in her audition. On the other hand, John consoled Manu encouraging her to come back in six months for another shot.

Who is Manu?
Manu, 18, is a Columbian-American singer who claimed to have been on 'The Voice: Kids' previously when she was 11 years old and again when she was 13. Manu is a New Jersey native, but both her parents are Columbian immigrants. When the family first immigrated to Columbia, her parents did not speak English at all. As a child, Manu had no idea her parents experienced such hardships; now, talking about it brings tears to her eyes.
Manu on 'The Voice' Season 22
Manu showed a lot of potentials as she auditioned with the hit song 'Shallow' from 'A Star Is Born' by Lady Gaga, but sadly did not get any of the judges to turn for her. Blake regretted not turning for her but claimed he did not turn for the talented teen because he felt she could practice adding more finesse to her performance. The other judges also felt terrible for Manu and John even encouraged her to perfect her artistic flair and re-audition after six months. According to him, her voice was lovely; it was just missing that artistry.
On the other hand, fans were incredibly disappointed as Manu returned home, with many taking to Twitter to express their anguish. "@gwenstefani #TheVoice Manu needed you" commented one as another added, "@camila_cabello #TheVoice thought Manu was good really thought you would turn for hef (her)" One called out John, saying, "@johnlegend #TheVoice Wow I can't believe you let manu go. You are suppose to be coaches. Todd Michael Paul. Wrong song. He was awesome. They need to bring some back." With another adding to it, "@johnlegend #TheVoice you should've turned for Manu!!! She was a rockstar!!!" And a fan wrote, "Manu got the short treatment but a very strong voice, taking on Shallow (a really huge song esp for someone so small). and she didn't get a coach to turn. wow! #TheVoice #VoiceBlinds" Another supported the teen, saying, "Manu has a beautiful family. All of the sacrifices were worth it to make it to #TheVoice!"

@johnlegend #TheVoice I can’t believe you didn’t turn for Manu! Seriously, her voice is beautiful - and “artistry” is what you (or any of the other amazing Coaches) could have worked with her to develop. She was certainly stronger than several of the others who got a chair turn.
