LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Emmy nominations for the 76th awards were unveiled on Wednesday, setting the stage for the upcoming ceremony scheduled for September 16, 2024.

Each year, the Emmy nominations inevitably spark discussions about the shows and performances that didn't receive recognition despite their merit, and 2024 is no exception.

As the industry and fans alike digest the announcements, discussions are rife with assessments of notable snubs. Let's discuss those notable omissions that left audiences surprised and questioning.

1. The Curse

'The Curse', a satirical black comedy thriller television series created and written by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, is one of the biggest snubs in the Emmy nominations.

Known for its unique blend of humor and suspense, the show garnered critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. However, it failed to receive recognition from the Emmys.

Emma Stone did not receive an Emmy nomination for her role in 'The Curse'. Similarly, her co-stars Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, as well as the rest of the team involved in the series, were also not nominated, whether for acting, writing, directing or any other categories.

The absence from the nominations list has sparked disappointment among fans.

2. Tony Shalhoub for 'Mr Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie'

Tony Shalhoub did not secure an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie for his role in 'Mr Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie'.

However, the movie did receive a nomination in the oddball Outstanding Television Movie category.

It's unfortunate because fans deeply appreciated Shalhoub's performance in this movie. It appears that Emmy voters did not find his performance sufficient for recognition.

3. Cosmo Jarvis for 'Shōgun'

While 'Shōgun' achieved significant nominations at the Emmy Awards 2024, Cosmo Jarvis did not receive a nomination.

Jarvis, portraying the volatile character John Blackthorne in 'Shōgun,' has been noted for delivering what many consider to be the standout comedic performance of the year.

Therefore, the Emmy snub comes as a disappointment for fans who believed Jarvis deserved recognition for his exceptional work in 'Shōgun'.

4. Moeka Hoshi for 'Shōgun'

Moeka Hoshi's portrayal of Usami Fuji in 'Shōgun' was widely praised and beloved by fans.

However, Hoshi did not receive a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, despite her acclaimed performance.

This omission is considered the biggest snub for fans of 'Shōgun'. Many enthusiasts of the series expressed disappointment and frustration over Hoshi not receiving recognition.

5. Fumi Nikaido for ‘Shōgun’

Fumi Nikaido, known for her role as Ochiba No Kata in 'Shōgun’, also did not receive a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Her portrayal of Ochiba No Kata was truly breathtaking. Her omission from the nominations list is a significant disappointment for fans.

Fans had hoped to see her exceptional work recognized at the Emmy Awards. The absence of nominations for both Hoshi and Nikaido is deeply disheartening.

6. Oliver Platt for 'The Bear'

Oliver Platt played Uncle Jimmy in the comedy-drama series 'The Bear'. Despite 'The Bear' receiving notable acclaim and recognition at the Emmys, Platt's performance as Uncle Jimmy did not secure a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

'The Bear' received the highest number of comedy nominations ever in a single year, so fans were particularly hopeful that Platt would also receive recognition.

This omission prompted conversations among fans about the diversity of performances deserving recognition within the comedy genre.

7. Matty Matheson for 'The Bear'

Matty Matheson portrays the handyman Neil Fak on the FX series 'The Bear'. Ironically, his character in 'The Bear' is the only main employee who never cooks, yet his comedic timing is a treat to watch.

However, Matheson did not receive nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

This omission was notable given the praise for his portrayal. This snub stands as the biggest disappointment for fans of 'The Bear'.

8. Nicole Kidman for 'Expats'

Nicole Kidman played the role of Margaret in 'Expats', which is based on the 2016 novel ‘The Expatriates’ by Janice Lee.

She did not receive any nominations at the Emmys, despite delivering an outstanding performance as Margaret.

It's particularly disappointing that Nicole, who won two Emmys for her performance in 'Big Little Lies' in 2017, did not receive any nominations this time around. Many expected her to be recognized again for her talent and commitment to her role as Margaret.

9. Devery Jacobs for 'Reservation Dogs'

'Reservation Dogs' received a well-deserved nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series at the Emmys, marking a significant achievement.

However, Devery Jacobs, whose character Elora is widely regarded as the heart of the series, did not receive a nomination for her impactful performance.

Notably, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, who portrays Bear, as the unofficial ringleader of the crew, received a nomination at the Emmys.

10. 'John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in LA'

John Mulaney's latest project, 'John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA', aired on Netflix between May 3 to May 10, 2024.

The series included monologues, guest appearances, pre-taped sketches, and musical segments.

Despite receiving positive critical acclaim, the show did not receive a nomination for Outstanding Talk Series at this year's Emmy Awards, which came as a surprise to fans.

These are the 10 biggest Emmy snubs that left us speechless.
