The third episode of the series, 'Tomorrow is Tomorrow,' sheds light on the sly side of Yoshii Toranaga, who understands the dangers of his existence in the palace and his approaching impeachment.

In order to ensure Blackthorne and Toda Mariko's safety, Toranaga asks his trusted man, Kashigi Yabushige (Tadanobu Asano), to accompany them to Edo at the beginning of the episode.

Unaware of Toranaga's ulterior plan, Yabushige chooses to carry out the demand in exchange for Suruga's provenience.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the cunning Toranaga later dresses as his wife and sits in the plaquin on her behalf but Blackthorne and Mariko catch a hint of it.

His strategy appears to be in jeopardy quickly after the traveling party is intercepted by Ishido Kazunari (Takehiro Hira), who insists on his man accompanying them.

Nonetheless, they carried on their journey with Blackthorne's help until they came upon a new threat.

Afterward, in the heart of the dense forest, Lord Kiyama (Hiromoto Ida), who wishes to assassinate Blackthorne, attacks the journeying group.

Amidst the tumult, Lord Kiyama's man uncovers Toranaga's escape strategy and flees to warn Ishido.

Sensing danger, Toranaga leaves with Blackthorne, Mariko, and Yabushige, and he secures his safety with the aid of the Black Ship.

As the episode comes to an end, Blackthorne gladly agrees to teach Toranaga's men his combat skills in return for both his ship and his men.

Shōgun premiered with its first two episodes on February 27, 2024, on Hulu and FX. The subsequent episodes are scheduled to be released weekly.
