Does ‘One Night Only’ have post-credits scene? Callum Turner starrer saves a cheeky surprise for the end

‘One Night Only’ may not have a traditional post-credits scene, but the rom-com still leaves audiences with a fun surprise.

Rom-com fans now have a new movie to add to their watch list. ‘One Night Only’, starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner, is currently playing in theaters after releasing on August 7. The plot is really unusual but interesting and is set in a fictional New York City. It follows two strangers who meet on a particular night of the year when single people are legally allowed to engage intimately. Now, viewers planning to watch it must be wondering whether there are any post-credit scenes worth waiting for. Yes and no. The R-rated movie makes the answer a little complicated, though. The film diverts from taking the traditional route. There is no mid-credit scene or post-credit scene. That means when the screen fades to black and the credits start rolling, the story is completely over. But there is one fun thing waiting at the end. When the credits are done rolling, Turner’s voice can be heard making an over-the-top grunt.

It is not hard to imagine what creator and director Will Gluck was trying to do here. Because the film is filled with raunchy jokes and innuendos, the ending audio provides the perfect, humorous conclusion. But there was another purpose, too. Despite the whole plot of the movie being centered around s*xual matters, surprisingly, there is no actual on-screen steamy scene. That audio was meant to suggest that after the buildup of 102 minutes, Allie (Barbaro) and Owen (Turner) finally did the deed. And if that unexpected audio clip made some viewers wonder whether the Universal Studios feature is setting up a sequel, that may not be the case. That is because rom-coms rarely get follow-ups. Historically, only a few romantic comedies have been able to become franchises due to audience demand. Some of them include ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’, ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, and ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’.

So, it remains to be seen what will be the case with ‘One Night Only’. For now, there is no official news or even a hint that it will be getting a sequel. Meanwhile, the official logline reads, “Recently dumped Owen and hopeful romantic Allie might be the only two singles in the city looking for more than just a quick encounter. They both feel a spark when they meet, but a series of missteps and side quests complicate their night, keeping them apart. As they each race toward and away from each other across the city, they just might discover that the one thing they want most is closer than they think.” The supporting cast includes Maya Hawke, Julia Fox, King Princess, Ben Marshall, Ziwe Fumudoh, Molly Ringwald, Michelle Hurd, Bobby Cannavale, and LeVar Burton.
