Did you spot Darth Vader in the new Solo trailer? We did and found a lot more too
Disney finally releases and extended trailer of the new Han Solo film and it is just as epic as we expected it to be
Hold on to your seats, things are about to go into hyperdrive! Disney FINALLY released a full trailer for their upcoming film Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Star Wars enthusiasts are looking forward to this new installment in the series after The Last Jedi received mixed reactions from fans. The teaser trailer for the Han Solo movie was aired during the Super Bowl, giving fans a glimpse of the much-awaited storyline
However, Disney released a full trailer on Monday, and the internet exploded!
Excited fans are looking forward to the story of everyone’s favorite smuggler. The iconic role was first played by Harrison Ford, seen first in Star Wars movie – A New Hope. Not much is known about the Millennium Falcon pilot’s backstory. But with this trailer, fans are treated to a little extra sneak peak into the film, which is set to hit the screens in Sweden on May 23 and worldwide on May 25.
Here are a few of things we spotted in the extended trailer:
Han Solo’s legendary piloting skills
The trailer opens with a clip of Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich, in a land speeder making a daring escape from the Empire. With him is Qi’ra played by the beautiful Emilia Clarke in the co-pilot’s seat.
The short clip shows Solo flying through an Imperial Base, testing his flight capabilities. You can hear him saying how he got kicked off the flight academy because he has a mind of his own. What needs attention is the fact is Solo is not Force-sensitive, making his maneuvering skills, legendary. With this understated ability, Solo is able to wipe out a couple of guards on his tail.
Spot the gold dice
Yep, the very same ones received by Princess Leia at the end of The Last Jedi!
Insane drift skills
No Star Wars movie is complete without a good land speeder chase. The trailer has a chock-full of crazy chases and wicked piloting kills. Han Solo cornering that speeder like that? Intense!
A brand new Millennium Falcon
It took a couple of re-watches for the internet to recognize the interiors of a brand-new Millennium Falcon. So shiny...so...clean…
Hello, you beautiful machine
This looks like it’s the first time Han Solo laid his eyes on the Millenium Falcon. Dare we say, love at first sight?
Everybody’s favorite rebel
How exciting is it to see Woody Harrelson starring in the new Star Wars installment? He plays Tobias Beckett, a cool uncle of a space pirate who reaches out to Han in the process of putting a crew together. Is ‘putting a crew together’ the new ‘putting a team together’?
Khaleesi, is that you?
Qi’ra looks ready to slay in her outfit. She looks downright royal descending the Falcon’s ramp.
Please let’s just take a moment to appreciate Donald Glover’s beautiful portrayal of the Millennium Falcon’s original pilot, Lando Calrissian.
Thandie Newton is a part of the cast
She features very briefly in the trailer, but everyone’s favorite Westworld actress Thandie Newton can be seen sporting a gun and looking for trouble as an unnamed space fighter. Is she a part of the newly assembled crew?
No one knows a Wookiee like Han Solo
It’s exciting to think that this movie might introduce us to the beginnings of the famous Han-Chewie bromance. How did they meet? Were they prisoners on an Imperial base? Were pulled limbs involved? The suspense!
That’s Lando piloting the Millenium Falcon. This was probably before he lost it to Solo with a game of sabacc. Solo can be spotted riding along in the backseat!
Is this the new droid we are looking for?
Lando’s co-pilot is a smooth droid that was live-actioned by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Everyone loves a quick-witted droid. Though she doesn’t say anything in the trailer, Star Wars has always had a standout droid in each of its installments so her character may have a lot more to say in the movie. But that synchronized salute, though. Smooth, huh?
So, did Han shoot first?
A clip in the trailer shows Han in a western-type setting. Is this going to be a decider for the age-old debate ‘who shot first’?
Oh hey there, Vader
It’s as clear a day that this mysterious cloaked figure with insane fight skills is none other than Darth Vader. Has Han Solo met the Sith Lord before their encounter on the Death Star?
Please let this be the famous Kessel Run
The Kessel Run was a hyperspace route used by smugglers and unscrupulous freighter captains to move spice from the spice mines of Kessel. Han Solo claims to have made the now-infamous run in less than 12 parsecs, boasting about his ship's ability to endure short, hazardous routes through hyperspace, which is clearly evident in the trailer. Just, please let this be it!
The trailer ends with our star-packed cast having a close shave with a space monster of some sorts. The trailer for Solo got a lot of die-hard fans on the edge of their seat. Hopefully, the force is strong in the movie.
