'American Idol' Season 20 contestant Christian Guardino may have gotten Michael Buble's seal of approval for his rendition of 'Circle of Life', but sadly he didn't get the same from the fans. After fighting tooth and nail to earn a spot amongst the Top 10, the Long Island native flew down to Disney World, California, to compete in the Disney Night special and advance to the Top 7 round.

With the help of celebrity choreographer Derek Hough's mentoring, Christian polished up his performance to the famous 'The Lion King' track. When Derek noticed that Christian was struggling with confidence, he called up Michael Buble, who in turn praised Christian's take on the iconic track. Christian confidently stepped onto the stage and gave a moving performance which ended with the show's judges- Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan giving him a standing ovation. The audience too seemed to love Christian's performance as they voted for him to advance to the Top 7 round. Unfortunately, the show's fans didn't share the same sentiments, as several fans took to Twitter and the show's YouTube channel to critique his performance.

A fan tweeted, "Can I be honest here, Christian is never really that good, but he keeps putting through so whatever #AmericanIdol." "#AmericanIdol Christian’s voice is painful to listen to. Saved by a song choice," wrote a fan. Another fan added, "Christian is not going to be a huge star...inspirational story, but time to go #AmericanIdol." "OK so this proves I know nothing...I thought he over sang it. I've loved most of his performances but not this one," echoed a fan.

Another fan shared, " This wasn’t my favorite performance of his. I felt like he was being drowned out by the band and was trying to do a bit too much. I felt like he could have sang A Whole New World or Beauty and the Beast and had a bigger moment." "Yikes at the song choice! I really wish he hasn't chosen this song because it's so overdone and I am so tired of hearing this song on every season! It's very difficult to pull off and Ada Vox got voted off with this song. Jennifer Hudson had the best version of this song so far with Zoanette right behind her, then Ada, and then Christian. I love Christian too and he did a great job with the song but the band was kinda overpowering him in parts but he hit the right notes and hit the big chorus and runs," pointed out a fan. "I didn’t like it..I don’t know why..it just seemed he was straining," observed a fan.

Christian moved onto the Top 7 round on 'American Idol' alongside Leah Marlene, Nicolina Bozzo, Noah Thompson, Fritz Hager, HunterGirl, and Jay Copeland. Emyrson Flora, Lady K, and Mike Parker were eliminated from the competition after failing to receive enough votes from the audience.

'American Idol' Season 20 airs Sundays and Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
