'American Idol' Hollywood Week: Christian Guardino dubbed 'top 5' material after soulful performance

The Long Island native performed in the Soul category and left the judges namely Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie absolutely stunned

Christian Guardino is being dubbed as top five by the Internet after he showed his exceptional singing skills during the first round of Hollywood Week of ‘American Idol’ Season 20 aired on Monday, March 28. The 21-year-old crooner, who earlier won the golden buzzer on ‘America’s Got Talent’, performed his rendition of Billie Eilish’s ‘My Future’ and quickly got the Internet talking.
 
The Long Island native performed in the Soul category and left Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie absolutely stunned. The golden ticket winner soon got a standing ovation from the trio as he took a few high notes during his performance. The judges then told other contestants sitting in the audience to watch out for him. Singers namely Kelsie Dolin, Nicolina, Tobias, and a few others were some of the contestants who sailed to the next round with ease.

Social media users thronged to Twitter as soon as Christian wrapped up his set. “Christian Giordano likes to play the “I’m shocked I’m here” card but he went through several rounds of America’s Got Talent. I like him but don’t pretend you haven’t done this”, said one user as another posted, “That Christian guy is a top-runner. Incredible. He’s got that Sam Smith range.” One user tweeted, “Christian made this Billie Eilish song sound like an old fashioned standard. He has such an incredible voice and style.”
 
The next one shared, “Yall sure Christian ain't a descendant of Teena Marie? Cuz THAT SOULFUL VOICE!” And, another posted, “Holy s**t cristian gave me goosebumps.” One added, “Damn, Christian has some pipes AND some soul!” One user stated, “Christian's going top 5 for sure. Wow!” And, one individual asserted, “Christian Guardino launched into this full voice and it sounds so good to my ears. Soul, indeed! Sang bro. You can’t tell him nothing. Wonderful offering.” One equally stunned user concluded, “I had goosebumps what a voice wow unbelievable oh boy this years talent wow platinum for-sure lots of unbelievable moments wow lots of awesome singers this year going to be tough to choose the winner wow in aw.”
