ALEDO, TEXAS: 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant, Cate Gartner, is a singer and songwriter who recently made her music debut. She hails from Aledo, Texas, where she attended Aledo High School. Alongside her musical pursuits, the aspiring singer is a member of the Texas Country Music Association. However, Cate's life turned upside down when she discovered she was pregnant with her first child.
During high school, Cate found herself facing an unexpected pregnancy. Reflecting on her journey, she took to Instagram and reflected on her 'terrifying' journey in a video. The ABC show contestant introduced her latest touching song about the experience called, 'The Place That I Call Home', inspired by her experience, revealing, "It was terrifying."
Cate revealed that she wrote the song for her baby after her guitar teacher and co-writer suggested. They finished the song about three weeks before her son was born. Cate said, "This is the most vulnerable I’ve been probably ever, but this is the most meaningful song I've ever written."
Cate added, "And if it can help at least one girl in my situation, I’ll be happy." Cate has been co-parenting her son with her beau. The aspiring singer shared photos with her son and beau on Facebook.

'American Idol' star Cate Gartner pens debut album in 4 years
It took 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Cate Gartner approximately four years to complete her debut album. Titled 'Fairytale Endings', the aspiring singer released the album in June 2023, featuring seven songs. Cate shared on her social media that she had recorded five of the seven demos for the album back in 2021.
However, the ABC show contestant took a year-long break from the project which postponed the album's release. Cate also admitted that she was on her first album for about four years and kicked off her singing career as a "young girl who didn’t know much about anything... I'm grateful to be able to release this album and hope it can be as inspiring to others as it is to me."

Cate Gartner will audition for the Golden Ticket in the upcoming episode of 'American Idol' Season 22. The aspiring singer has been rumored to clinch the Golden Ticket after impressing the ABC show judges, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. She would advance to the Hollywood week but get eliminated before the semi-finals.
Cate has promoted her 'American Idol' appearance on her social media. She shared a series of photos from the day of her audition and teased, "SURPRISE!!! I got to audition for season 22 of @americanidol." She added, "You may see a familiar face…or two ;)." Cate was notably accompanied by her son who might help the aspiring singer persuade the judges with his cuteness.
