Fans of 'American Idol' Season 22 label contestant Regan Mills 'terrible' following 'awful off-Key' performance
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The judges of 'American Idol' Season 22 may have hyped up Regan Mills, but viewers remain unconvinced by the singer's performance compared to others who advanced to Hollywood Week. Numerous viewers have questioned the judge's decision, expressing skepticism about what they saw in the singer.
Despite Reagan's impressive personality, viewers criticized his singing as "off-key." As a worship leader, his strength lies in performing Gospel songs. He initially sang "Easy On Me" by Adele and later performed "Is My Living in Vain" by The Clark Sisters at the judges' request.
Seeing Reagan move ahead to the Hollywood Week, a fan claimed, "That Reagan person literally just yelled the whole time and the judges let them go to Hollywood This season feels so bad man, like the singers aren't even good bro." Another wrote, "reagan not total dumpster singer i thought he would be."
One fan wrote, "The first song was awful..off key .. flat..come on guys." One fan called out judges, "Sorry people you all must be deaf he was TERRIBLE." "He SUCKED," claimed another.
Another called out the singer, "Reagan Mills serious on that piano then voice came in flawless, some natural riffs and a serious mix, he leaned into this. His tone was scratchy in places but he has a wonderful voice. His 2nd choice had the church boy come out."
'American Idol' Season 22 judges compare Reagan Mills to Leslie Jordan
As Reagan walked onto the stage, the judges compared him to the late actor Leslie Jordan. Being mesmerized by the comparison, Reagan said, "I've never heard that before but I love it."
Teasing Reagan, Luke Bryan asked him to state some of Leslie's famous statements. Reagan said, "What are y'all doing? Screwing?" Being a worship leader, Reagan gently refused to recite any lines containing profanity.
'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Reagan Mills' mother steals the spotlight
During Reagan's performance of the second song, Luke Bryan opened the door of the 'American Idol' stage and warmly welcomed Reagan's mother onto the stage. The judges cheered her on, encouraging her with words like, "Sing it mama!"
Both Reagan and his mother began singing together as the judges cheered. As Reagan noticed his family stealing his spotlight, he immediately said, "You sang my part." His mother looked towards the judges and stated, "He always says that."
Lionel Richie turned towards Reagan's family and said, "This right here is a whole TV show." Being mesmerized by the statement, they thanked the judges. All three judges unanimously said "Yes" to Reagan, advancing him to Hollywood Week.
'American Idol' Season 22 airs on ABC on Sundays at 8 pm ET/PT.
