LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Michael Rice is a singer from the UK and has already released a few hit singles. He competed in the BBC TV show, 'All Together Now' Season in 2018 and won the singing competition. After winning the BBC show, Michael now vie for the Golden Ticket in the ABC show.

During his time on the BBC show, Michael performed 'Proud Mary' and Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah.' Additionally, the ABC show contestant's performance on 'Proud Mary' amassed 11 million views on YouTube. Michael started his career while performing on the streets. He became an internet sensation after his busking went viral garnering millions of views on social media overnight.

The aspiring singer also auditioned for the UK version of the 'X Factor' Season 11 in 2014. He was just 16 years old at the time and performed Whitney Houston's song 'I Look to You.' Michael was sadly eliminated during the Bootcamp round. According to his website, Michael received the right to represent Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest. He recorded 'Bigger Than Us' for the competition.

The British pop artist was eliminated during the final round of the contest. He has since never looked back and achieved multiple milestones in his life. Michael attended the red carpet of the 2022 BRITs awards. Additionally, Michael's rendition of Madcon's song 'Beggin' was played during an episode of Peacock's show 'Love Island'. He recently teased his 'American Idol' Season 22 on his social media and claimed 'dreams do come true'.

Michael Rice pens his new single during his 'lowest' time

'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Michael Rice recently dropped his new single, 'Boy I Used to Know' from his upcoming album. He accompanied the song with a music video and emotionally reflected on the emotional background origin of the song in an Instagram post. He shared, "I written ‘Boy I Used To Know’ during a time when I was at my lowest with my mental health."

Michael also revealed that he sat in his "bedroom up north and I just let everything out that I was feeling in that moment." The ABC show contestant added, "This is one of the most emotional, real and soul baring songs l’ve ever wrote." The ABC show contestant added, "I wanted you to feel every lyric, emotion, doubt and setbacks that I’ve ever felt through the production and vocal." Michael had released multiple songs but his latest single seemed special to him. The aspiring singer claimed that 'Boy I Used To Know' was the "first single of this new exciting chapter in my life!"

'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Michael Rice is speculated to receive the golden ticket to Hollywood. According to the reports, the aspiring singer would advance to the Top 57 contestants. He would perform Eric Carmen & Celine Dion's song, 'All By Myself', during the Showstopper Round in front of the live audience. Michael would also perform to serenade the ABC show judges, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie in the further rounds of the singing competition.
