Tommy Lee's son Brandon Lee blames their fight on his father's alleged alcoholism
Brandon Lee blames Tommy Lee's addiction to alcohol as the reason for their recent fight.
In an interview with People, Brandon Lee said that the physical altercation that took place between him and his father, Tommy Lee was fueled by his father’s alleged addiction to alcohol. “I’m devastated at the events of the last several days that have been a result of my father’s alcoholism,” Brandon's rep Teal Cannaday told the magazine.
Brandon opened up about how Tommy's addiction reached a point where he had to intervene but that did not seem to make things better. “I’ve worked tirelessly organizing an intervention and it’s incredibly upsetting that it never came to fruition," the statement read.
"I wanted my dad’s hopeful sobriety and recovery to be a private family matter but, as a result of his accusations on social media, I feel forced to speak out. I have and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as needed. I love my father and just want to see him sober, happy and healthy.”
In response to this, Tommy later tweeted on Wednesday (March 7), denying the accusations about his alcoholism, saying that he does not have a problem and it was only on a couple of occasions that he decided to drink.
"LMAAAO!!!! I’m happier than I’ve been in my entire life," his tweet read. "I have a few drinks here & there because I’m f—in’ retired and enjoying my life. I worked 30+ f—in’ years I deserve it,” he wrote. “You didn’t arrange any intervention, you barely spoke to me while u were here. Just covering ur ass!! See ya later social media! Can’t read anymore liesss.”
Fans of Tommy reacted when the singer shared a picture of a swollen lip on his Instagram. Along with the picture, the rock legend complained about his son being ungrateful for everything he had done for him and hitting him last night. He then ended the post on a sarcastic note, writing "Good job Brandon! Great son," implying that the reason for his injury had been his son.
He even made a comment on the same picture in order to make it clear to his fans that it was his son behind the swollen lips. "He hit me and knocked me unconscious last night... I was in the hospital," he wrote. Since then, Tommy has declared that he is quitting social media.
