'Orphan Black: Echoes' Episode 6: Why Xander is the key to Jules Lee's freedom
Contains spoilers and speculations for 'Orphan Black: Echoes'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The most recent episode of 'Orphan Black: Echoes,' an AMC science fiction series, plunges viewers deep into the intricate mystery behind Jules Lee's (Amanda Fix) existence.
While it has been revealed that Lucy (Krysten Ritter) was created by Dr. Kira Manning (Keeley Hawes) to deal with the loss of her wife, Dr. Eleanor Miller (Rya Kihlstedt), the cause of Jules's birth remains a puzzle.
The most recent episode, however, reveals that Paul Darros (James Hiroyuki Liao) may have something to do with Jules and that he may also have a major plot in the play.
A new character named Xander Darros (Vinson Tran) was also introduced in the episode and it is indicated that he might perhaps aid Jules in realizing the truth about her origins.
Who is Xander in 'Orphan Black: Echoes'?
While not much is known about Xander, the most recent episode makes it clear that he is in fact a come of Paul Darros who is now attempting to manipulate Jules to work for Paul.
So, how did Jules meet Xander? In the most recent episode, Dr. Pam Teller (Marnie McPhail-Diamond) abducts Jules and takes her to Darros's farm.
Sequestered in a bedroom, Darros expresses regret for her imprisonment, acknowledges that he printed her, and guarantees complete access to all the information at a later time.
Later, while exploring outdoors, she comes upon a force field that makes a loud noise and renders her immobile.
There, she meets Xander, who gives her an explanation of the force field and tends to her wounds but declines to let her flee because of the hazards to his employment.
Later, he aids Jules in fleeing but despite their best attempts, the duo is unable to dismantle the force field.
Jules eventually finds that Xander is using software to simulate Darros's voice, revealing that he is a printout of Darros, and makes it clear to her that Darros possesses them, and there is no escape.
Will Xander help Jules Lee to escape in 'Orphan Black: Echoes'?
Now one thing is quite clear both Jules and Xander are being used by Paul to fulfill his agenda and share a mutual dissatisfaction with his control which could be a driving force behind the duo to work together.
The growing dynamics between Xander and Jules point to a potential partnership, implying that he may eventually decide to help her escape Darros' tyrannical hold.
Now that Jules and Xander seem to be clones of some very strong brains, it is feasible that they may ally not just to escape but also to take down the Darros Foundation.
However, based on the episode, it appears that Xander has complete control over Paul and is hiding something valuable.
So the biggest challenge for Jules is to first persuade him and then uncover the truth behind Paul's intentions.
