After months of speculation, Disney has finally confirmed that Mitchie Torres, aka Demi Lovato, will indeed be part of 'Camp Rock 3'. Mitchie was the central character of the first two installments and, in many ways, launched Lovato to worldwide stardom. Lovato was announced as an executive producer for the upcoming threequel, but until now her appearance had been kept under wraps. Disney has now revealed that the pop star will also return on screen in a cameo, according to Deadline. A still of Lovato reprising her role has also been released by the network. She joins other alums from the franchise, Maria Canals-Barrera and the Jonas Brothers, in the highly anticipated movie.

Disney has already revealed the movie's overview. According to the movie's synopsis, the storyline kicks off when 'Connect 3' loses their reunion tour's opening act. The trio returns to 'Camp Rock' to give a new generation of artists the chance to make their mark on the world. The opportunity gives rise to tensions and friendships to be tested, resulting in unexpected alliances, revelations, and romances. Since both Mitchie and her love interest Shane (Joe Jonas) are returning for the installment, fans can expect updates on their relationship. In the 2000s, when 'Camp Rock' was released, both the on-screen characters and actors stole hearts with their amazing chemistry.

'Camp Rock' debuted on Disney Channel in 2008 and was followed up with a sequel in 2010. Both were the most-watched premieres on cable in the years of their debut. The series quickly became one of the most popular Disney Channel Original Movies of all time. According to Disney, both movies boast a combined viewership of 535 million hours across linear and streaming. Fans have been asking for a threequel for a long time, and will finally have their wish fulfilled on August 13. It will be available to stream on Disney+ the day after.

Maria Canals-Barrera returns as Mitchie's mother Connie, working as a Camp Director, who got promoted from her head cook position in the previous installments. The alums will be joined by the newcomers Liamani Segura (Sage), Malachi Barton (Fletch), Lumi Pollack (Rosie), Sherry Cola (Lark), Hudson Stone (Desi), Casey Trotter (Cliff), Brooklynn Pitts (Callie) and Ava Jean (Madison). Veronica Rodriguez directs the movie from a script penned by Eydie Faye. The venture is being produced by Disney Kids & Family and will feature choreography from Jamal Sims. Franchise alums Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, and Demi Lovato will executive produce alongside Tim Federle, Gary Marsh, Betsy Sullenger, and Spencer Berman.
