Lionel Richie calms Kamron Lawson down

Out of all the judges, Lionel was most sympathetic towards Kamron. The moment Kamron walked into the audition room, he was struck by his pangs of anxiety. His voice was quivering as he hit the high and low notes, and judges were quick to identify that he was nervous about his performance. Luke encouraged Kamron to try another song, and he chose 'Truly' by Lionel himself. He began his piece with his nervous jitters and said, "I'm sorry I choked" to which the judges were nothing but understanding. Richie assured him that he is okay and that sometimes it's okay to be scared. Other judges followed pursuit and egged him on to try his best for his second shot. Throughout the performance Ritchie was seen supporting him, giving him a count, and singing with him. Kamron eventually secured the Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

'I knew he would make it'

Fans were not only quick to realize the judges' sympathetic side but also commended Kamron's voice. On the Youtube video posted by the official channel of 'American Idol' one said, "Sick, sick, sick voice! His vibrato is awesome. Can't wait to hear (and see) more of him, for sure! Thank you so much, Katy, Luke, and Lio!" Fans also empathized with his nervousness and comments like, "All he needs is volume and confidence! Has a beautiful voice." One said, "So glad they are giving him a chance!! I think his nerves took over." Another one also pointed out his association with the contestant. They said, "I work at his Walmart and went to school with him. He is truly a beautiful human being and shows so much love for everyone, and truly has a passion and talent for singing. He’s always singing while working and interacting with customers, in the bathroom, in the break room, and everywhere. Everyone always tells him how much talent he has and that he’s truly loved by everyone. I knew he would make it."
