'American Idol 20': Who is Taylor Jalen Fagins? Berklee student also loves to playwright

‘American Idol’ Season 20 is all set to welcome its new contestants who will battle for the crown this summer. The last season was won by country singer Chayce Beckham, who is currently busy releasing new songs. Speaking of the latest season, Katy Perry will once again sit on the judge’s chair along with her counterparts country music legend Luke Bryan and singer-songwriter Lionel Richie.
 
The live auditions before the show gets aired on ABC network have already been wrapped up and contestants namely, Grace Franklin, Noah Thompson, Delaney Renee Wilson, Taylor Jalen Fagins, Tyler Allen, Danielle Finn, and Cole Hallman among others are expected to make an appearance on the very first episode of the singing reality show. Taylor Jalen Fagins is another crooner who will try his best to impress the show’s judges. Ryan Seacrest will be back on the show as a host, however, fans will surely miss Bobby Bones as he recently revealed that he won’t be seen in Season 20 due to other work commitments.

Who is Taylor Jalen Fagins?

Taylor Jalen Fagins is one of the newest contestants on Season 20 of ‘American Idol’. The 28-year-old crooner, who hails from California, began singing at the age of nine. His grandmother is reportedly a church choir singer. Fagins graduated from Los Alamitos High in 2013 and the University of California, Irvine, with a BA in Drama in 2017. The versatile singer is currently enrolled at Berklee NYC where he is studying writing and design for musical theatre.
 
According to the publication Mixed Article, Fagins started writing music in the second year of college and dropped his debut single in March last year after three years of graduation. In college, the singer also got acting credits with titles like ‘Little Women’ and ‘Parade’. He later appeared in projects like ‘Violet’, ‘Brad Knows Nothing’, ‘Hairspray’, and others. Taylor Jalen Fagins is also the winner of the 2020 American Songwriter Annual Song Contest. On Instagram, he has close to 3K followers. He dubs himself as a writer and his social media bio reads, “Creating stories for those unseen...Creating music for those unheard...Love is everything.” He had released a single named ‘We Need More’ that he dedicated to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many others. Fagins is also keenly interested in becoming a playwright while also producing songs.



 



 

When will ‘American Idol’ 20 air?

The 20th season of ‘American Idol’ is all set to debut on Sunday, February 27, at 8 pm ET. The show is expected to hit the ABC Network with 18 episodes and might wrap up in late May. The auditions for the new season were held in Los Angeles, Austin, and Nashville. Online auditions too happened with virtual sessions. While the format of the show will remain the same, a new platinum ticket has been introduced that would allow the holders to skip the first day of Hollywood Week.
