'American Idol': SHOCKING reason why Willie Spence fans rejoiced after he lost finale to Chayce Beckham
'American Idol' finale episode has ended and like every year, runner-up Willie Spence's fanbase believes he was robbed of a win. Spence, a caretaker from Douglas, Georgia, was a frontrunner from the very beginning. His voice was branded a "spiritual experience" by all three judges throughout the season as well as the finale. "Thank you for blessing us with your voice," Katy Perry said to him right after he delivered his final performance in the finale. However, he didn't win the show and was defeated by Chayce Beckham, a country artist from Apple Valley, California, leaving fans saying another "white guy with guitar" won the show.
The finale relayed so many emotional aspects from Spence's life, one being his bond with his mother Sharon Singleton-Spence which left Perry sobbing inconsolably for a good minute. He visited his hometown and everyone came out to show support and cheer him on before the finale. Judging from all the positive comments he's received for all the exceptional performances he'd delivered on the show, there wasn't a doubt that he could win the show but when he didn't, a section of his fans was left seething with anger. But there were some who are happy that he wasn't picked as the winner and believe the loss is a win in disguise. Reason: He is free to work with anybody he wishes to work with and won't have a contractual bond hindering his vision for himself as an artist.

In the past, there have been many instances where winners or contestants have openly spoken out against 'American Idol' for using them for their benefit. The biggest example is that of Philip Phillips who brought a lawsuit against 19 Entertainment, the company that produces the show with Fremantle. He decided he wanted out of the contract, needed his freedom back so he could work with a recording company of his choice.
The winner of 'American Idol' Season 19 gets a record deal with Disney and fans are happy Spence won't have to abide by the terms and conditions and will be able to follow the path he wishes to in his musical journey. "I wanted Willie to win but I’m glad he didn’t. He’s now free to work with whomever he wants & not be limited to the #AmericanIdol stuff. It should’ve been him / Grace, but now they can make #MoneyMoves!" wrote a fan. Another fan noted that it's not the winners but the runner-ups as well who have set out to make great careers, writing, "Doesn’t matter. Adam Lambert came in second. Jennifer Hudson came in 7th place!! Willie and Grace and Casey have brilliant careers ahead. #americanidol"

"OK, who's ready to sign @Williespence their label? @sc? @JAYBUMAOM? A label that cares about their artists is what he needs. #AmericanIdol just shown the spotlight on this angel. #signwilliespence" wrote another. "Many of the biggest Idol contestants who got runner up have Grammies and we can’t even name the winners of their seasons. Willie and Grace will be GOOD! But Chayce?!" read another tweet.
