Do Yuri and Juliana end up together? ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 3 finale sets up one love story we wanted all along
The highly anticipated Season 3 of 'XO, Kitty' is now out. Fans binge-watched all eight episodes to find the fates of their favorite ‘KISS’ alums. Two characters the fandom was heavily invested in were in were Yuri (Gia Kim) and and Juliana (Regan Aliyah). The adorable couple went their separate ways in Season 2. Juliana began the third season in a committed relationship with Praveena (Sasha Bhasin), while Yuri was aghast at her new reality. The former heiress lost all her footing when her family went bankrupt. Throughout the season, she sells personal belongings and takes up jobs to afford her tuition. The former lovers were on completely different pages at the beginning of their senior year. Did things change as time passed? Read more to find out.
The duo did not have a hot and heavy romance like ‘MoonCovey’ (Min Ho Moon and Kitty Song Covey), but shared small, meaningful moments in the first part of the series. The former couple spent a lot of time together in Lotte World, pursued a lost dog, and much more. Despite the disastrous breakup last season, there were still some lingering feelings beneath the surface. Juliana also supports Yuri through her tough time by providing help with her designs. All this steadily grows their friendship. Revelations like Yuri still being Juliana’s medical emergency contact shed light on how important they were to each other in the past. There were several hints throughout the season that none had fully moved on from each other. This fact became clear when Juliana blasts Praveena for setting up Yuri with someone else.
In a sort of deja vu, Praveena breaks up with Juliana due to her closeness with Yuri, similar to how Juliana once did with Yuri because of Kitty. Even after the breakup, Juliana and Yuri keep their distance. For a while, Yuri doesn't even know that Juliana is single. She gives a telling smile after being informed of the development. At Kitty's 18th birthday party, Juliana makes a choice when she keeps things friendly with Praveena and instead asks Yuri for a dance. The last viewers saw of the couple was them together in the dorm, when Min Ho arrived asking about Kitty. The status of these exes remains unclear, but it is evident that they may give it a shot.
Showrunner Valentina Garza stated that the fan-favorite couple is in a positive place and Yuri's growth is a primary reason behind it, according to Variety. "This season was about her reinventing herself, but in the process, she becomes somebody who can be worthy of that love and that relationship that she broke in the previous season. So, it felt very full circle to be able to get back to that place with Juliana," she explained. Netflix has yet to renew the show. Fans need to wait a bit to find out which route the duo chose.
