'XO, Kitty' Season 3 ending explained: Min Ho and Kitty's train station reunion changes everything
The much-awaited 'XO, Kitty' returned to Netflix with its third installment. The season follows everyone's favorite KISS students as they stand on the precipice of adulthood in their senior year. After heaps of ups and downs in Season 2, fans were overjoyed when Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) and Min Ho (Song Heon Lee) finally made their relationship official in Season 3. However, the duo hit a bump in the road with a mid-season break-up as Kitty falsely accused Min Ho of getting another girl pregnant.
Additionally, Kitty had her heart set on New York University, while Min Ho wanted to pursue a career as an entertainment manager in Seoul. Kitty never wanted to part ways, but that is where the duo appeared to be headed. "I never thought we would do that just to break up," Kitty told her friend Q. Min Ho, though, had different plans. In the dramatic finale, he decided to let go of his doubts and embrace what his heart truly wanted: Kitty. To express his feelings, he sent Kitty a song he wrote for her titled 'By My Side.' After a thrilling chase at a train station, Min Ho finally caught up with Kitty.
Emotions took over as they blurted out "I love you" to each other, something they had wanted to do for a long time. "Covey, I don't want to stand in the way of your future," Min Ho said to Kitty. "And I don't know what my future holds, but I want it to be with you. And I couldn't let you go without telling you that. Or without saying... I love you." The couple then shared a kiss, leaving long-time fans thrilled. The episode ended with Min Ho accompanying Kitty to Portland, Oregon. The scene pays homage to a similar reunion the duo had at the end of the first season, which kick-started the obsession surrounding them on social media. Kitty and Min Ho, for now, are gearing up to face an uncertain future.
Does this mean they are endgame? Showrunner Valentina Garza was rather coy about the answer to this question. "I think that they are right for each other right now. I think only time will tell what will happen in the future," she shared with Variety. Netflix has yet to renew 'XO, Kitty' for another season, so the audience will have to wait to find out how things play out in the future.
