Spoilers for 'XO, Kitty' Episode 2

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kitty’s (Anna Cathcart) life in South Korea has started on a disastrous note as she just got to know that her boyfriend, Dae, has been cheating on her. On the other hand, we get to know that Dae (Choi Min-Young) is not actually rich and is on the verge of getting out of school because his tuition fee has not been paid. Elsewhere, Yuri is facing the heat for embracing another girl, Juliana, and her parents are not happy after getting to know that their daughter might be in a relationship with a girl. However, Yuri lies and tells her mother that she is in a relationship with a guy from the school and that guy turns out to be Dae.

At first, it seemed like Dae cheated on Kitty by lying to her, but it was not exactly the case. In the opening few moments of the second episode of Netflix's ‘XO, Kitty’, viewers get to know that even Dae didn’t even know that he would be in such a situation because Yuri (Gia Kim) has told him to “act like her boyfriend” just to show her mother that she is dating a guy. But that’s not the only reason why she has chosen Dae to be her fake boyfriend. If you remember, the first episode of the series showed us how Dae was having problems submitting the tuition fee for the next quarter. So, when Dae told Yuri about this, she told him everything would be taken care of and she really did that for him.

Real reason for the fake relationship 'revealed'

While walking out from the party, they meet Yoonmi Jeon, the financial aid administrator, who lets Dae know that his tuition fee was submitted and wished him the best of luck. Yuri paid the fee for the entire quarter and now he really owed her. However, Dae was not happy with the situation and told Yuri that they would be furious if they found out that she was in a relationship with their chauffeur’s son. Yuri made him understand that this drama is being done so that her parents get to know about her relationship and as soon as they know that their daughter is dating the chauffer’s son, they will ask her to end the relationship and when that happens, he is happy to go to Kitty and begin a new, romantic life. Until then, he has to behave like her boyfriend.

But things went further downhill when a video of Yuri’s father went viral on social media in which he can be seen behaving rudely with his hotel staff and as a result, the deal with Miller Hospitality has been put on hold. Yuri shared a hilarious meme on the video that also got featured in a BBC news report. Her father got very angry and started to blame his daughter for all the mess. However, Jina Lim, his wife and the principal of K.I.S.S., gives him the idea to call her boyfriend into his company and give him an internship to make people understand that he always takes care of his staff and doesn’t misbehave with them.

Did Kitty find out about their fake relationship story?

They make him sign an NDA and give him an internship, but during the press conference, Kitty finds an interesting detail and realizes that Yuri and Dae are in a “fake relationship.” Kitty is correct, but she is expecting Dae to tell her so that they can move ahead with their relationship. Will Dae be able to tell her about this agreement? We’ll get to know about that in the upcoming episodes.
