After months of pleading from fans, SM Entertainment finally complied and announced NCT Dream’s first full group concert ‘The Dream Show 2’. With the group often active as 5 members from KPop.Flex to KCON and Seoul Festa, we rarely get all seven members of the group performing together outside of comebacks. Dubbed ‘7Dream’, they turned heads as 1.5 million people tried to buy tickets for their 20k-seat concert. However, it looks like their first 7Dream concert has been canceled disheartening fans as two members got Covid-19.

Days before NCT Dream’s first full group concert, Mark Lee tested positive and SM first shared the concert would go on without him. While the group debuted in 2016, he temporarily left the group and was not present when NCT Dream had its first concert. This is why ‘The Dream Show 2’ felt like deja vu as we would again be only getting six members without Mark. However, the next day, it was reported that member Renjun had also ended up getting Covid-19. While fans felt that SM would simply postpone the concert to a later date after the boys recovered, the 7Dream concert has been canceled for good.

NCT Dream’s first full group concert canceled

‘The Dream Show 2’ concert tickets were sold out in seconds and even the NCT Dream members were excited for it as it would be the first time Mark Lee would be joining them. But SM has not shared any plans to postpone the concert. While they apologized for the inconvenience, ticket holders will get a full refund. Fans are pleading with SM since they are worried it could take another couple of years before getting a 7Dream concert.

While NCT Dream debuted in 2016, they had their first solo group concert and a mini tour in 2019. Mark was not present as SM had him ‘graduate’ and leave the group. They wanted to retry the failed rotational concept of Super Junior where old members would ‘graduate’ and leave with new members being added to NCT Dream. However, after much uproar, SM made NCT Dream a fixed group with Mark rejoining in 2020. But with members Mark and Haechan also being part of another group – NCT 127 which is prioritized over NCT Dream, we often get 5Dream (five members of NCT Dream) group activities.

‘We can wait’

Fans took to Twitter to ask SM to postpone the concert, “We need 7dream :( #PostponeTDS2.” They also asked the group not to apologize and simply focus on recovery, “Y'ALL DID WELL PREPARING FOR TDS2, u guys don't need to say sorry for the things that clearly out of control. We will wait, please be safe and we know y'all 7DREAM will be back stronger than what you are rn🤍 warmest hugs to all of you.” Another fan added, “Get well soon my love :((( no need to be being sad over changeling concert. dreamzens waited for 7dream a very long time we can wait more. the most important thing is our dreamies health.” One shared, “I hope SM meant to postpone the concert and not really cancel TDS2 cause they freaking worked hard for this.”

However, Knetizens pointed out that the venue – the Gocheok Sky Dome was actually booked till next year February. They made comments like, “Realistically, how are you expecting them to postpone it?.. The venue is packed rented until next February…,” and “Do they not know how much damage cost this was on the company? Do they think that the company wanted to cancel it themselves?ㅋㅋ.” Another user reasoned that even if they changed the concert venue, the tickets need to be canceled, “They can reschedule it at another venue, but again they have to cancel this one because the ticketing would be different.”
