LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: James Gunn has made the move from Marvel to DC with some big changes in store for the fans. The first big change that really got a reaction from fans was replacing Henry Cavill as Superman. The ‘Superman: Legacy’ script was submitted right before the writers’ strike deadline, which means Gunn could begin working on the other aspects of the much-anticipated superhero movie.

Undoubtedly, casting is the key element of ‘Superman: Legacy’ and it has caused an uproar among fans. There have been a few revelations about who might be the next Clark Kent aka Superman himself, and it will be interesting to see if they can live up to Cavill’s legacy. There’s a lot riding on this role, and James Gunn, who is still basking in the glory of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3’ and its success, has much to live up to.

Who could be the next Clark Kent?

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed a few names that have been floating around as contenders to become the next Superman, and the first name is David Corenswet. Admittedly, if there is anyone who looks like a slightly younger version of Cavill, it has to be Corenswet. You might recognize this 29-year-old actor from the popular series ‘Hollywood’ and the 2022 movie, ‘Pearl'. Corenswet definitely has the look for becoming Clark Kent, but can he match up to Cavill?

There are reportedly two more actors in the mix, although their names haven’t been revealed. Frankly, Hollywood does have a lot of capable actors who could take after Cavill, and some of the names that have surfaced for the said job include Jacob Elordi, Nicholas Hoult, and Tom Brittney. Considering the fact that James Gunn plays a big role in casting, could Chris Pratt be considered to be the next Superman? From Star-Lord to Superman! Now that’s a headline everyone is waiting to see.

The other cast members of ‘Superman: Legacy’

‘Superman: Legacy’ is looking at a release on July 11, 2025, so unless something changes, the movie shouldn’t be postponed. This also means there is enough time for Gunn to decide who will play the parts of Lois Lane and Lex Luthor. Sources have revealed that Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, and Samara Weaving are amongst the few actresses being considered to play Lane. However, Gunn is looking for someone among the younger crowd.

As for Luthor, which is a massive undertaking, Hoult’s name surfaced once again. It is interesting to see that one actor might be screen-tested to play the hero or the villain. Only time will tell who gets cast as Kent, Lane, and Luthor in the upcoming ‘Superman: Legacy’ and hopefully that time is nearer than one might have anticipated!
