John Legend turns 44: From doting father to Chrissy Teigen's loving husband, Grammy star’s many hats
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: John Legend rang in his 44th birthday on Wednesday, December 28. The Grammy award-winning singer will be celebrating his special day with the unconditional love of his darling wife Chrissy Teigen and two adorable children, Luna Simone, 6, and son Miles Theodore, 4.
Legend, whose real name is John Roger Stephens, and his model wife are undoubtedly Hollywood's ultimate ride-or-die couple. They first met on the set of Legend’s 'Stereo' music video in 2006. Though the couple attempted to keep it casual initially, things soon heated up, and by 2007, they were already dating. After waiting for four years, John proposed to Chrissy during a Christmas holiday in the Maldives in 2011. Eventually, the pair exchanged vows on September 14, 2013, in Como, Italy. Legend and Teigen even had a quick courthouse marriage at New York Fashion Week to fulfill the legal requirements just two months before their dreamy Italy wedding.

Two years after they became husband and wife, the pair announced that they were expecting their first child after undergoing IVF treatments. Speaking about her dreams of a family, Teigen told E! News, "I've always pictured everyone around the table for the holidays and together once a week. It'll be heartbreaking if it doesn't end up happening, but hopefully, it will. We've got some embryos on hold."
The soul singer and model welcomed their first child, Luna, in April 2016, with Teigen gushing on Instagram that she was so in love. The pair wanted more children and felt compelled to continue growing their family. During a red-carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 28th Annual Producers Guild Awards, Teigen shared her plans to have a baby boy with Legend. "A little boy is next, for sure," she said.
Credits to IVF again, the lovely couple welcomed their second son, named Miles Theodore Stephens, on May 16, 2018. Teigen announced the news on Twitter, writing, "Somebody's herrrrrrre!" Previously, Legend revealed that becoming a father has turned his life upside down. The singer is a perfect example of a doting dad who pitches in to share parenting tasks, including feeding, burping, soothing, and the dreaded diaper duty.
Legend recently opened up about his first-hand experience of how not having changing tables in men's restrooms is a problem. "Daddy diaper duty is a real thing. Daddies should be involved, and overall, we should be involved in parenting responsibilities as much as we can. It's time for society to say it's time to change this kind of thing. We don't want to just talk about it, we want to do some building," he told Today. Legend has since been making relentless efforts to change the public perception. He even partnered with Pamper and Koala Kare to identify and install the facilities in men's rooms. Legend also claimed that part of raising children as a team is determining what responsibilities you want and what your partner can do best.
The musician has asserted that he will be proud of whatever professions or interests his children follow in the future. "I want them to just find what they’re passionate about, commit to it and really get into it. Whatever it is, I will support them," the singer told DailyMail.
The year 2022 has been a rollercoaster ride for Legend and his wife. Their bond has been flourishing again after suffering a tragic miscarriage in 2020. The couple celebrated their 9-year anniversary in September with Legend expressing his love towards Teigen by calling her his "absolute best friend and lover and partner in life." The Grammy winner also released 'Legend', an album in two parts that chronicles his experiences with love and loss. Earlier this year, the couple even announced a third baby was on the way. Teigen took to her Instagram handle on August 4, 2022, to announce she and Legend were elated for the chance to have another baby and to watch how Miles takes to being a big brother.
