CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: NBC is returning with Season 25 of 'The Voice,' scheduled to premiere on Monday, February 26 at 8/7c.

Joining the panel alongside returning judges John Legend and Reba McEntire are the acclaimed country music duo Dan and Shay, as well as the beloved fan favorite, Chance the Rapper, who will be taking a seat in the iconic Red Chair.

Even though this is not the first appearance of Chance the Rapper on the NBC show, viewers have seen him dorn his cap with the number 3.

Born on April 16, 1993, in Chicago to Lisa Bennett and Ken Williams Bennett, Chance the Rapper developed a penchant for caps from his early school days.

Despite his fondness for them, wearing caps posed a challenge as they typically violated the school uniform code, leading to restrictions on his preferred accessory. Confiscated caps from students were either redistributed among the student body or, for a more positive impact, donated to those in need.

Chance felt like wearing caps as a sign of rebellion during the hot-blooded teen ages. During a GQ interview, he stated, "I used to always rock a cap when I was in high school and get them taken away."

Chance loves adorning chains, designer garms, and cool sneakers like most rappers of his generation.

Nevertheless, his distinctive trademark is a singular baseball cap adorned with the number '3.' When questioned about the significance of the number, he revealed its tie to the promotion of his third mixtape, titled 'Coloring Book,' which followed his debut mixtape '10 Day' in 2011 and 'Acid Rap' in 2013.

In addition to representing his third mixtape, Chance has expressed that the number 3 holds significance as the Holy Trinity and symbolizes his family of three at that time (now expanded to four). It's highly likely that 3 also serves as his lucky number.

He won 3 Grammy's at the 59th edition of the awards for Best Artist, Best Rap Album for 'Coloring Book', and Best Rap Performance for 'No Problem'. He married Kirsten Corley in 2019 and the couple is now blessed with two beautiful children.

Following the debut of his albums in 2011 and 2013, Chance the Rapper made a significant impact in 2016 with the release of his third mixtape, 'Coloring Book.' This album played a pivotal role in solidifying his reputation as a brilliant and influential artist.

The mixtape garnered widespread acclaim and earned Chance the Rapper three Grammy Awards, including the coveted Best Rap Album. Notably, 'Coloring Book made history as the first streaming-only album to clinch a Grammy Award.

The significance of the number '3' caps for Chance the Rapper holds a special place, particularly stemming from his third album. During the naming process of his third mixtape, 'Coloring Book,' he sought simplicity.

This led to the adoption of the number '3' on his caps as a promotional tool, signifying the importance of the album in his career. Yet, what began as a simple promotional strategy evolved into Chance the Rapper's signature style.

To this day, he continues to wear caps adorned with the number 3, symbolizing not only respect for his craft but also elements of rebellion, love for family, and his spiritual connection with God.

While he celebrated the 10th anniversary of his Acid Rapid project he opened up to Complex about his struggles with substance abuse during his early career days.

Chance candidly expressed, "I probably would’ve died, to be honest." He elaborated on this statement, recounting a period when he rented his residence for the first time, finding himself living independently in a new city with a substantial amount of money.

He revealed that during this period, he found himself "doing a lot of drugs. A lot, a lot, a lot of drugs." Chance admitted to the excess, mentioning that he took 'Too many Xans' at one point, highlighting the challenges he faced during that phase of his life.

Fortunately, with the right support and guidance, Chance was able to overcome his substance abuse struggles. In April 2013, he made a triumphant return by releasing 'Acid Rap,' featuring collaborations with artists such as Childish Gambino, BJ the Chicago Kid, Noname, and Vic Mensa.

Chance claimed that while producing the album, he received a lot of criticism for "rapping about doing LSD."

Why did Chance the Rapper want to be a coach on 'The Voice' Season 25?

Chance the Rapper in an interview with NBConline, stated, "I wanted to be a coach on The Voice because I enjoy providing opportunities for emerging artists, particularly those who are already experienced in their field and know what they're doing but simply need the appropriate limelight. I wanted to be part of the process."
