‘Supergirl’ footage shows Milly Alcock battling space raiders but things spiral out of control fast
Milly Alcock is stepping into a rougher, scrappier version of ‘Supergirl’, and the latest footage suggests the upcoming movie isn’t going to be a smooth trip through the stars. A fresh clip from Warner Bros.’ superhero film was shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, as per Deadline. It offers a more detailed look at what the audience can expect when ‘Supergirl’ hits theaters this summer. The footage opens on a worn-out interplanetary bus cruising through a distant world, packed with strange-looking passengers from different corners of the galaxy. Alcock’s Kara Zor-El keeps to herself as the vehicle rattles along. Then, a gang of space raiders suddenly storms the bus, turning a routine ride into a tense standoff.

• New action sequence where Supergirl fights tech pirates who attack a space bus she’s on

They begin robbing everyone on board, moving from passenger to passenger with little patience. When they reach Kara, things take a turn. They demand her watch, and she appears to go along with it without putting up a fight. For a moment, it looks like she’s just another unlucky traveler caught in a bad situation. However, Kara quickly changes gears, revealing that she has no intention of walking away empty-handed. What follows is a fast-moving fight that spirals out of control. The plan doesn’t go exactly as expected, and before long, she’s thrown out into open space. It’s a wild moment that could easily spell the end for anyone else.
Kara, however, is not just anyone. Even in the vacuum, she manages to regain control. Using her laser vision, she turns the tables on the attackers. The sequence gives a glimpse of how this version of ‘Supergirl’ operates. At the heart of the plot is a three-day journey. Kara is trying to secure a cure for Krypto, her loyal companion, who has been poisoned. The threat comes from a dangerous figure known as Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts. The mission sets up a race against time, with Kara traveling across unfamiliar territory where danger seems to follow her at every turn. The film pulls its story from ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’, written by Tom King with artwork by Bilquis Evely. The screenplay comes from Ana Nogueira, who brings the story to the big screen.
The supporting cast brings more variety to the story. Eve Ridley appears as Ruthye Marye Knoll. David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham take on the roles of Kara’s parents, Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, respectively. Meanwhile, Jason Momoa joins the film as Lobo, a fan-favorite antihero known for his wild personality and unpredictable nature. Furthermore, Craig Gillespie directs the film. The title is produced by Peter Safran and James Gunn, the heads of DC Studios, with additional support from a team of executive producers working behind the scenes. ‘Supergirl’ is set to arrive in theaters on June 26.
