'Big Brother' is currently gearing up to celebrate a massive milestone: its 1,000th episode. According to a press release, the episode will air on August 27, 2026. This means that the 1,000th episode will include an eviction, which typically happens on a Thursday. Eviction episodes are usually the most eventful. They feature the blockbuster competition and the live voting as well. Despite that, the show is committed to making a celebration out of it. The episode will reportedly be 90 minutes long and will give fans a chance to participate in the proceedings.

The episode will also look back on the show's two-decade legacy. “The historic night will feature surprise appearances from former Houseguests determined by interactive fan votes and kick off the biggest twist of the summer. The episode will look back at some of the most memorable moments from the show’s historic 26-year run and shift into overdrive with the BB Blockbuster and a live eviction,” the press release from CBS stated. The episode will air from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on August 27. The show has already opened polls for fans to vote for their Favorite Showmance, Best To Never Win, and Favorite Winner. Currently, Americory is leading the Favorite Showmance poll, Janelle is at the top of the Best To Never Win poll, and Dan is at the top of the Best Winner list.

'Big Brother 28' has already welcomed back the likes of Will, Morgan and Howie from previous seasons. However, the impact of alum appearances in the celebration episode is yet to be fully figured out. The "biggest twist" is also under wraps as of this writing. Currently, the houseguests are dealing with the BB Time Capsule twist, which allows the top-voted contestant each week to gain a power or receive a disadvantage. After the BB Time Capsule on August 27, this new twist will come into play. Just as the BB Time Capsule brought powers and punishments from the past, the new twist may also draw inspiration from previous seasons. Considering the 27-season history of 'Big Brother,' there is plenty to choose from. From 'Dyre Fest' in 'Big Brother 24' to 'White Locust' from 'Big Brother 28,' viewers should be prepared for anything.

The team behind the scenes is also looking forward to the celebration. “We are thrilled and honored to be celebrating this unprecedented milestone,” executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan said in a statement. “It would not have been possible without all of the hardworking and talented people behind the scenes who make up our Big Brother family. This achievement belongs to them, the hundreds of brave houseguests who have walked through the front door, our iconic host, Julie Chen Moonves, and of course, our passionate fans.”

Julie Chen Moonves expressed her gratitude and said, “Never did I ever expect the unexpected.”  She added, “When we launched season one, there were rumors we could get canceled midseason because we didn’t have the same ratings as Survivor. And now look at us, Ma! Two former Survivor players are currently on our show, including a former winner, Dee. Although the past 28 seasons feel like the blink of an eye, it doesn’t look that way when you see all the fashion trends and hairstyles I’ve worn through the decades. That’s the dead giveaway for how long we’ve been around! I am humbled and grateful for this momentous occasion. May God allow Big Brother to continue for at least another 1,000 original episodes, with more Zings, new Houseguests, and countless HoH competitions still to come!” 'Big Brother 28' continues to air new episodes every Sunday, Thursday, and Wednesday only on CBS.
