Josh Holloway is back in Montana after his surprising exit from Season 4 of 'Yellowstone.' Die-hard fans of the Taylor Sheridan drama will remember Holloway as Roarke Morris, who met his tragic end at the hands of a rattlesnake. In his next project, titled 'Flint,' he will play James Kettleman, aka Jim Flint, who returns after years away from the Montana Frontier. The new Western drama is based on Louis L'Amour's novel of the same name. According to the author's official website, the 65-year-old classic is considered one of the best Western novels in history. As per the book's synopsis, Jim returns to the West to spend his final days.

Apart from Holloway, the movie features an ensemble cast comprising Sarah Gadon, Dianna Agron, Max Martini, Mike Vogel, Forrie J. Smith, Charles Esten, Bailey Chase, Nick Searcy, and Kristoffer Polaha. The movie's synopsis reads, "James Kettleman returns to the Montana frontier he once fled, taking the name of the notorious killer who raised him. In the crosshairs of a range war involving a female rancher, he is forced to decide what his ultimate legacy will be." Along with Holloway, Louis' son Beau L'Amour has also been listed as a producer. The movie is set to premiere at the Nashville Film Festival on September 25, 2026.

Holloway is ecstatic to be part of the adaptation. "As a diehard Louis L’Amour fan, it was a true honor to step into the shoes of this iconic character. Partnering with Ryan to bring this story to life on the big screen was the culmination of a nearly 20-year journey for me. I believe we made something special, and I could not be more excited to share this film with the Nashville Film Festival audience in September," he told Collider. He shared the same sentiment on Instagram and revealed that he has been pursuing the role since his 'Lost' days. Ryan Whitaker directs the movie, based on his own script. Both the director and Holloway will be in attendance during the movie's premiere. Charles Esten and Ken Carpenter, who have been billed as producers, will also be present. Mark Pentecost, who serves as the executive producer of the venture, has also announced his availability.

Collider also released an exclusive trailer for the Western drama. The clip focuses on the complicated Jim Flint against the backdrop of Montana's scenic beauty. The trailer begins with Holloway's voiceover, "Sometimes a man needs to disappear..." immediately setting the tone. The footage features some shooting and horse-riding sequences, all of which make for a good Western drama.
