'Yellowstone' Season 3: Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly and Josh Holloway, meet the cast of the Paramount hit
Paramount's hit series 'Yellowstone' is set to return to the network for Season 3. Fans have waited a long time since the previous season to have the Dutton family back on their screens complete with all their (life-threatening) family and political drama.
After a phenomenal Season 2 that ended on heady terms, it remains to be seen just how deadly things will get in season 3. The Dutton family, that had a close shave with the Beck brothers last season are going to be confronted with another vicious entity that is looking to take over their land. But John Dutton (Kevin Costner) will not let that happen.
Rest assured, we are getting the Dutton family in their element. Before the critically acclaimed show makes it return for the third season on Sunday, June 21, 2020, let's meet the cast.
Kevin Costner as John Dutton
Costner plays the role of the patriarch of the Dutton family, John Dutton, who will stop at nothing to keep his land in the family. Land, legacy and family are of utmost importance to him. Season 2 is a testimony to exactly this as John and the entire Dutton family is pit against vicious land developers who kidnap his grandchild to get their way.
As an actor, Costner requires no introduction. He is the recipient of two Academy Awards, two Golden Globe awards and a Primetime Emmy award. The actor is best known for his work on 'The Bodyguard', 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves', 'Dances with Wolves' - a role for which he won two Academy Awards; 'JFK' and 'A Perfect World'.
While his film career has seen its fair share of ups and downs, the actor is rather outstanding in his roles on televisions. His portrayal of Devil Anse Hatfield in the miniseries 'Hatfields & McCoys' garnered him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton
As Kayce Dutton, Grimes plays the role of a former US Navy SEAL and one of John's three sons (one of who is dead). He spent most of the previous season in a rough patch with his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille). Towards the end, Monica returns along with their son Tate to the ranch to live there with the rest of the Dutton family. This, unfortunately, leads to Tate (Brecken Merrill) being kidnapped.
Grimes is best known for his role of Marc Lee in 'American Sniper' and that of Elliot Grey in 'Fifty Shades of Grey', 'Fifty Shades Darker' and 'Fifty Shades Freed'. He is also known for playing the role of James on 'True Blood' and Ryan Lafferty on 'Brothers & Sisters'.
When he quit 'True Blood', there were reports that he did so upon refusing to perform same-sex kissing or sex scenes. But his publicist clarified that he did it to pursue other opportunities.
Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton
In Beth Dutton, we have 'Yellowstone's best character. John's daughter is fiercely loyal to him, highly intelligent, cunning and a master manipulator. The foul-mouthed woman is a force to reckon with stopping at nothing, like her father. While she has her fair share of issues (emotional instability and alcoholism), they stem from unresolved childhood issues. In Season 2, she faced a deadly attack and was rescued by Rip. The two also expressed their love for each other.
The English actress is best known for her performance in After Miss Julie at the Donmar Warehouse, which earned her a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress of 2003. She is also known for her work in 'Pride & Prejudice', 'Citizen Gangster', 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows', 'Chinese Puzzle', '10x10', and 'Eli'.
Wes Bentley as Jamie Dutton
Jamie shares an intense love/hate relationship with his sister Beth and the two are at constant loggerheads. He is currently held up in the bunkhouse, banished from the house, for his actions in the previous season. Bentley is best known for his performance of Ricky Fitts in 'American Beauty' - a role for which he earned himself a nomination for a BAFTA Award for Supporting Actor. He is also known for playing Doyle in 'Interstellar' and Seneca Crane in 'The Hunger Games'.
Following the success of 'American Beauty', he struggled with substance abuse. This was documented in 'My Big Break', a documentary in which he was one of four subjects.
Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler
As Rip, Hauser plays the ranch foreman at the Dutton Ranch. Just like Beth, he is loyal to John. On the field and outside, he is John's right-hand man and enforcer. As a young boy, he was taken in by John and since has looked up to the man. It is around this time that his on-again-off-again relationship with Beth began.
The actor is known for his work in 'School Ties', 'Dazed and Confused', 'Good Will Hunting', 'Pitch Black', 'Tigerland', 'Hart's War', 'Tears of the Sun', '2 Fast 2 Furious' and 'The Break-Up'.
His work in 'The Cave', 'A Good Day to Die Hard', 'Olympus Has Fallen' and 'Transcendence' is also recognized.
Kelsey Asbille as Monica Long Dutton
Kelsey plays the role of Monica Dutton, Kayce's wife and John's daughter-in-law. A Native American, she understands the struggle and strife that comes with owning land. And therefore, while she realizes the pressures on John she doesn't always see eye to eye with him (especially with respect to his methods).
She shares a son with Kayce, Tate, who is John's only grandchild. His kidnapping had left her devastated in Season 2.
The actress is best known for her role on 'One Tree Hill' as Gigi Silveri and as Tracy Stewart in 'Teen Wolf'.
Her role of Natalie on 'Wind River' was criticized because of Kelsey's ancestry. The actress was born Kelsey Chow to a Chinese father and American mother. When she was cast in the Native American role in 2017, she claimed to be descended from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The tribe, however, issued a statement saying they have no record of Chow nor did they find any evidence that she is a descendant.
Josh Holloway as Roarke Morris
Holloway is a new addition to the cast of Season 3, playing Roarke Morris, "a handsome, charming, shaggy-haired hedge fund manager with ambitious plans in Montana".
The actor is best known for his roles as James 'Sawyer' Ford on 'Lost', as Gabriel Vaughn as 'Intelligence' and as Will Bowman on 'Colony'.
Jennifer Landon as Teeter
Landon is also a new addition to the cast playing the role of Teeter, a new ranch hand. The actress is best known for her role as Gwen Norbeck Munson in 'As the World Turns'. For that, she won three consecutive Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. Her father is the legendary actor Michael Landon.
Karen Pittman as Willa Hays
The actress is a new addition to the show playing Willa Hays, a very smart, confident, intimidating businesswoman. She "walks with the posture of a field general, all sharp angles (her hair, her suit, her thousand dollar shoes), Willa is the CEO of Metro Capital. An astute businesswoman who seems to always get what she wants, Willa has come to Yellowstone to make John Dutton an offer that he can’t refuse," according to reports.
Pittman is known for her role of Jory in 'Disgraced', as Lisa on 'The Americans' and Inspector Priscilla Ridley on Netflix's 'Luke Cage' and as Angela Brewster on 'NOS4A2'.
'Yellowstone' airs on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at 9 pm ET/ PT.
