Elise Bauman

Elise Bauman is a Canadian actress, director, filmmaker and singer. She was born on October 23, 1990.

She began her career as a theatre actor at a young age and later moved to New York City to study at Circle in the Square Theatre School.

During her time at Circle in the Square Theatre School, she starred in her graduating classes' production of 'The Cherry Orchard', where she played Anya.

Bauman was cast as the lead character Laura Hollis, in the Canadian web series 'Carmilla', based on the 1871 Gothic vampire novella by J Sheridan Le Fanu. The series grew extremely popular and Bauman spoke about the LGBTQ representation in the show, including her own character. "You don't see any of the characters being ostracized because of it (their sexuality)." She stated. "In a way, it's exactly the opposite of what happens on other shows. Their sexuality isn't the thing that is sticking out about them. It's the norm. I think that is so refreshing and that it is so wonderful to see..." she added, while talking to Starry Mag, back in 2015.

Her works include 'The Republic of Sarah', 'Love in Translation', 'Designed with Love', 'A New Year's Resolution', 'Good Witch', 'How to Buy a Baby', 'Mary Kills People', 'Frankie Drake Mysteries', 'The Handmaid's Tale', 'Paper Crane', 'Becoming Burlesque', 'Murdoch Mysteries' and 'The Carmilla Movie'.
