'American idol' viewers disagree with the judges and called out Pjae over his song choice

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 hopefuls vie to win 'America's Vote' at Disney's Aulani Resort in Ko Olina, Hawaii. 13 contestants including Mariah Faith, Warren Peay, Emma Busse, Pjae, and more aspiring singers performed during the first night at Disney's Aulani.

Pjae sang his heart out to win viewers' votes and grab a spot in the Top 20 with the help of mentor Allen Stone. 'American Idol' judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan enjoyed Pjae's performance and praised his song choice. But the viewers think the opposite.

Pjae delivered a soulful performance of 'Golden' by Jill Scott. The aspiring singer reveals he was raised in the basement of a gospel church and this song was special for him. The 'American idol' mentor praised Pjae and said, "You're an unbelievable singer." Allen told Pjae to give the audience a big vocal run before the band enters. Pjae did the same as Allen advised and delivered an impressive performance, although he changed the tempo at the end. Pjae's parents were there to support him as well. Katy wanted a few more runs, but she still enjoyed it. She also praised Pjae's song choice adding, "Great performance, great job." Lionel said, "That was some pro-movement you did there. America, you gotta vote."

Was Pjae's song choice great?

While the judges and mentors found Pjae's song choice great, 'American Idol' viewers believe his song choice might send him back home. A Twitter user commented, "going home, definitely Pjae and Mariah. Wasn't feeling Haven. 3rd person going home will be Haven or Matt. #AmericanIdol Lucy Love about to bring it tonight." Another person tweeted, "PJAE... a performance full of gimmicks, from the sound to Pjae’s look nothing seemed natural from this." Another follower noted, "I want to root for Pjae but his song choices are so bad." One viewer said, "Pjae with the 1st bad performance of the night. He won't get voted thru." Another fan said, "PJae can SANG that just wasn’t a good song choice." A user noted, "This song doesn’t show off PJae voice at all and I’m mad about it." "Horrible song choice..I didn't like this at all it's like they don't want to win", wrote another.
