'Oliver Steele is a no': Fans slam 'American Idol' singer for choosing song fitting location not voice

Choosing the soothing song, Oliver made the audience vibe together and was breezy as he sang it, however, viewers online were not impressed

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21's Top 26 performers are all set to sing at Disney Aulani Resort in Hawaii. Judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan along with host Ryan Seacrest can be seen enjoying the night as the contestants start to lighten up the stage with their soulful performances. Well, as soon as Oliver Steele performed, fans claimed that he was not as compelling as others.

Oliver's song was breezy and relaxing. However, fans believe that it wasn't something that could keep him in the show for a long time. Fans believed that entertaining people came in a little late from Oliver's side. He started slow and then later reached the pitch, making viewers wonder whether he impressed fans enough to get their votes.

Oliver Steele hustled for 'American Idol's Top 20 spot

Oliver chose 'Better Together' by Jack Johnson for the April 16 episode. Following this week's jaw-dropping performances, it is to be seen who will get to the Top 20. Oliver approached the stage with a guitar in his hand. Choosing the soothing song, he made the audience vibe together and was breezy as he sang the song. Oliver's sister Holly standing in the crowd cried as she saw her brother singing so beautifully.

Playing for the death spot in 'American Idol' Season 21, Oliver gave his best. After the performance, Katy complimented him and said, "Way to pick a cool song." On the other hand, Luke claimed, "You were your own artist. letting the band follow you." Lionel, who was impressed with Oliver's voice, said he showed his "vocal identity" in the best way possible.

'Oliver is a no?'

Even though Oliver managed to make the audience sway with him while he performed, fans believe that he was not worth being in Top 20. After the singer's performance, a fan commented, "Oliver is a no." Another explained the reason, "Oliver Steele chose a song to fit the location. This was breezy and relaxing. He was on vibing rhythmically, vocals resonant with a little gruff, tho I wasn't seeing it on his face." Another viewer tweeted, "Oliver not sure that might get votes when more entertaining people come late."
