'The Voice': Wendy Moten sings 'Jolene' for Top 10 berth, fans find it 'boring'

Blake Shelton has the reputation of churning out winners on NBC's singing competition show 'The Voice'. Still riding high on his win from Season 20, Blake kicked off Season 21 keeping his eyes and ears wide open to add another winning performer to his team. So when 57-year-old Wendy Moten stepped onto the stage and blew away the coaches with her jaw-dropping performance, it came as no surprise that Blake fought tooth and nail with his fellow coaches to get Wendy to join his Team Blake.

Wendy joined Team Blake and continued to breeze through the competition effortlessly and quickly positioned herself as the powerhouse vocalist of the season. For her top 10 performance, Blake decided to take a risk and assigned Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' to her. Up until now in the competition, Wendy has performed extensively to various R&B tracks, but Blake wanted to showcase that Wendy could ace country music as well. Despite the Nashville-based singer's riveting performance of 'Jolene', fans were unfortunately unimpressed with her performance.

While the coaches couldn't stop raving about Wendy's amazing rendition to Jolene, fans however felt that the song didn't suit the singer's vocals. A fan tweeted, "A no for Wendy singing Jolene #TheVoice." Another fan wrote, "I don’t like this performance for Wendy. It’s just not doing it for me. But I love the way they decorated the casts. So pretty. #TheVoice." "Not a fan of song choice for wendy /: #TheVoice," commented a fan. "Usually love wendy but this performance kinda … idk … boring? #TheVoice," added a fan.

Many fans also felt that Wendy's performance was 'boring' despite her impeccable vocals. A fan shared, "I’m so over Wendy not bringing it. Once again, another week of her and Blake playing it safe. Yes, vocally it was perfect. But she hasn’t given us any WOW moments since Aint No away. #VoiceTop10 #TheVoice."

"I'm gonna be honest & have an unpopular opinion but i don't really like wendy. she is TALENTED & has an amazing voice but she is SO BORING. every single week she bores me i'm sorry #TheVoice," expressed a fan. "“Thanks Wendy for doing a carbon copy of the song like you always do. You’re going to win because you’re basic and unoriginal.” Can we please just give it to Jershika or Hailey & call it a season. They’ve done nothing but improve and they deserve it. #thevoice," declared a fan.

'The Voice' Season 21 airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
