UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Parijita Bastola became an instant fan favorite, winning many hearts the minute she graced ‘The Voice’ Season 22 stage. From her mind-blowing audition to all her impeccable battle rounds performances, the Nepalese-American singer impressed fans as well as the critics of the singing competition. Most viewers continue to root for the 17-year-old singer and some even predict that the high schooler will be the one to walk away as the winner of ‘The Voice’ Season 22.

During the premiere of the knockout rounds, Parijita competed with Peyton Aldridge and Valarie Harding representing Team Legend. During rehearsals, she impressed coach John Legend with her choice of a song which he deemed well beyond her generation as she decided to sing Etta James’ ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’. Meanwhile, Peyton chose ‘Forever After All’ by Luke Combs, and Valarie settled upon ‘Weak’ by SWV as her selected song. The battle kicked off as Parijita embraced the stage, wearing traditional garb and giving one of her best vocal performances. Valarie went next with her performance, which earned her praise from the coaches, followed by Peyton’s gritty presentation. But ultimately, Parijita won the round and cemented her spot on Team Legend.

Blake Shelton complimented Parijita, saying that she performs as if she has years' worth of experience, while his wife Gwen Stefani found everything about Parijita impressive. Even John thought that Parijita owned the song both in the lyrics and the physical aspect and crowned her the winner of the round. Fans of the show also agreed with the coach’s decision and praised the young singer in the Youtube comments section of the video posted by ‘The Voice.

One fan wrote, “In addition to the already clear and raw tone of her voice, her stage presence is IMPECCABLE. Full of emotion, pain, and pure passion in her intonation and physical performance.”

Another complimented her smooth voice, “Parijita’s voice is simply amazing. Her rich tone is like butter. I felt the performance was a bit short bc I wanted to hear her take off with the song, but she did well nonetheless.”

A fan noted her consistency in all her performances, adding, “The clarity and charisma in her tone are just awesome. She’s been consistent from the blinds and She’s going all the way. Could be another win for John with this consistency,” while a commenter wrote, “She did “more than justice” to that song! ETTA JAMES would approve. BEAUTIFUL.”

Another fan praised her musical intelligence adding, “I’m always blown away by her restraint and ability to weave notes into a melodic story. I think she used just enough belting and runs that didn’t spoil it. Really smart singer.

And one viewer penned, “This is a different approach to the song. About time we hear the song from a fresh perspective of artistry and talent.”
