'The Voice' Battles 2022: Angry fans blame Camila Cabello's 'poor song choice' for Grace Bello's elimination
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Following her four-chair turn-blind audition, Grace Bello was pegged as a strong contender to win season 22 of 'The Voice'. So when she was kicked out of NBC's singing competition show just after the battles round, fans had some strong feelings about it and began blaming her coach Camila Cabello.
After her four-chair turn performance to Justin Bieber's 'Ghost', Grace was all set for the battles round. So, for the battles round, Camila paired Grace against 13-year-old Reina Ley. The 'Havana' singer chose Cyndi Lauper's 'Time after Time' as the battle song. Following an intense rehearsals session with Camila and battle advisor Charlie Puth, Grace and Reina took to the stage to deliver their final performance. Despite the duo's best attempts at making their performance a memorable one, fans found it to be flat. Blake Shelton pointed out how Grace's nerves must have gotten the best of her to explain her lackluster performance. The other coaches praised the artists for their attempts at performing an iconic Cyndi Lauper track. When it was time to pick a winner, Camila chose Reina.

'The Voice' fans felt that Camila's "poor song choice" was to be blamed for Grace's early exit from the competition. Several fans took to the show's YouTube clip of the performance to slam the song selection. A fan commented, "The song is just not for Grace she was robbed she will be missed." "Camilla could of done better coaching starting w not pairing them up secondly the song choice wtf," wrote a fan. "This song wasn’t Grace style at all she was set up for failure she deserved a better song. She has an incredible voice," pointed out a fan. "Grace is such an amazing vocalist and she really couldve won, i think it was just a bad song choice :(" echoed a fan.
Another fan shared, "I wish Grace had a different song to shine in because she has the chops. She also had one of my favorite blinds this season. However, Reina did great and I’m happy she is moving on!" "Two of my faves this season. such a shame they had to go against each other . im not sure this was the best song choice for them. wish they harmonised together more often too," observed a fan. "Very poor song choice here from the judges. These are two beautiful, talented young ladies. They should of chosen something more modern, upbeat, & appropriate for their age demographic to showcase their vocals better in my opinion," expressed a fan. "The Voice is all about song choice. Grace is a great vocalist but this song, specially this arrangement, doesn't fit her voice and style," noted a fan.
