'The Voice' 2022: Who is Tanner Fussel? Fans slam country singer for lacking firepower
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It is no secret that country is one of the leading genres on 'The Voice'. Possibly because of coach Blake Shelton or perhaps country artists just flock to the show, but in Season 22 of the show as well, the genre has reigned pretty prominently. So it is no surprise that another country artist, Tanner Fussel, decided to try his luck by auditioning.
Tanner performed the song 'Anymore' by Travis Tritt. Blake was the only one to turn for the singer as the other coaches felt he would be the best fit for Tanner. Fussel is in the maestro's team among other country artists Bryce Leatherwood, The Dryes, Kate Kalvach, Brayden Lape and Madison Hughes.

Who is Tanner Fussel?
Tanner Fussel is from Nashville, Tennessee. The 28-year-old specializes in country music and used to jam with his brother, Will. The two would play music together wherever they got the chance and money. Sadly, Will died in a tragic car accident that left Tanner heartbroken.
Tanner chose the song 'Anymore' by Travis Tritt for his audition to pay homage to his late brother. According to Tanner, performing brings happiness from the memories of happy times with Will but also reminds him of the sadness of losing him too soon.

Blake was visibly impressed with Tanner's performance and even his mullet, saying, "this is country" and turned his chair for him, also stating his version had 'a little bit of Travis and a little bit of rock' in it. Fellow judge Gwen Stefani was all praises, saying Blake was the best coach for him. John Legend appreciated his authenticity, while Camila Cabello said he had incredible talent.
Many fans loved Tanner, but a few pointed out his lack of 'firepower'. In the YouTube comments of the video of Tanner performing, one wrote, "He sounded like he was pushing too much. Vocals seemed forced, rather than his voice having any firepower." Another fan said, "It felt forced and his voice waivered here and there. His voice wasn't that great." Another commented, "Um yeah not really a fan of his tone. He's good and all but I think he's a battle fodder for Blake because I see him going home in the battles. I felt like he was pushing too much and his vocals weren't all that great and he was forcing it out." One criticized the genre he selected, saying, "I feel like he is more like a pop singer than country"
'The Voice' Season 21 airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
